St. James St. George
Parish presently has 21
pledging units totaling
$30,090.00 pledged for
2019. This amount is
approximately three
fourths what is presently
needed to meet our
projected operating
expenses while relying on Sunday supply clergy.
The difference must be made up by loose plate
offerings, special offerings, raffles, dinners and
other fund raisers. Every little bit helps. Please be
generous in your giving.
Pasta Dinner
Our Annual Pasta Dinner was held on Saturday,
January 29, 2019. Thank you to everyone who
made this event an outstanding success.
February 2019
For anyone desiring ashes, our Ash Wednesday service will be
held on Wednesday, April 6, 2019, beginning at 7:00 pm, at St.
James Church, Jermyn. Please, also note that at the request of a
number of parishioners, St. James St George Episcopal will be
holding their own Lenten services on Maundy Thursday, Good
Friday and Saturday’s Easter Vigil.
Training Opportunities
The following Worship
Leader and Eucharistic
Visitor trainings will take
place at Grace Church
Honesdale:
Worship Leader: Saturday, March 9 from 9:00am to Noon. A
Worship Leader is a layperson who is authorized to lead public
worship under the direction of the clergyperson or other leader
exercising oversight of a congregation. This training fulfills the
requirement for those who wish to be licensed to lead Morning
Prayer. The endorsement of the congregation's clergyperson or
Senior Warden is required to attend this training. Register here.
Eucharistic Visitors: Saturday, April 13 form 9 am – 3 pm
Eucharistic visitors are authorized to take consecrated elements to
members of their congregations who are too ill or infirm to attend
church. The training is required to be licensed by the bishop for
this ministry and the endorsement of the congregation's
clergyperson or Senior Warden is required to attend this training.

Church Financial Health
As the result of increasing pledges and hard work,
the year ended with a balance of $17,716.92 in the
checking account. If this trend continues, the
desire to obtain the services of a full or part-time
priest may be realized in the coming year!
Vestry News
The Vestry met on Monday, January 12, 2019, with all
members present. With the Rev. Dan Jones’ blessing, it
was decided that St. James St. George will hold their own
services during Holy Week. More information to follow.
The vestry is also looking for the names of four local
charities or organizations to be the 2019 recipients of our
2% of pledges outreach program.
