BASF in Korea

Overview

BASF has been doing business in Korea since 1954, and is a leading foreign investor in the
Korean chemical industry. BASF’s Korean entity, BASF Company Ltd., is a wholly-owned
subsidiary of BASF SE and also maintains the Asia Pacific regional headquarters of its
electronic materials business in Seoul.

BASF provides a broad portfolio of solutions to customers in Korea, and operates seven
world-scale production sites in Yeosu, Ulsan, Gunsan, Ansan and Yesan. BASF also
maintains a global electronic materials research and development center in Suwon and four
technical development centers, in Dongtan, Ansan, and Siheung. The sales and
administration office is located in Seoul.

 BASF Kids’ Lab (since 2003): Introducing chemistry in a fun way to elementary school
children.
 Community Advisory Panels (since 2002): Community outreach programs which provide
transparent information about BASF activities and discuss current issues with invited
panels, composed of opinion leaders from the local community – environment safety
experts, college professors, teachers and medical doctors.
 Scholarship Programs (since 2016): Participating in scholarship programs run by the city
of Suwon and by Sungkyunkwan University, providing financial support for students from
elementary to university levels.
