Lesson 17: Sacraments: Signs and Symbols

I. Objectives
A. To point out the descriptive definition of sacrament according to liturgical renewal
B. To demonstrate the message/significance of the sacraments in daily life
C. To draw men and women into a closer relationship to the Church, to Christ, to the Holy
Spirit, and to the Father

II. Subject Matter


Sacraments: Signs and Symbols

III. Materials
Bring a collection of pictures, through these pictures, prepare the students in the
discussion of the subject matter.

IV. Teaching Strategies

The picture symbolizes many things. The green light explains that the cars, buses and
other vehicles can move and go; the yellow light says that any moving vehicle is warned to
slow down and wait for the red light to appear in the traffic light; and when the red light
appears, it says that all moving vehicle must stop… Explain the rest of the pictures until all the
students understand the symbols they represent.

3. Students can share their personal experiences related to the lesson.
