Objectives

 To develop basic skills required to carry out an independent study


 To enhance the knowledge on literature review
 To improve the students’ ability in report writing
 To enforce the use of APA Referencing System in report writing

Introduction

A literature review is a critical assessment of the relevant literature on a particular topic. It


is an account of what has been published on a topic by scholars and researchers. Normally,
a structure of a literature review includes; a title page, table of contents, introduction,
literature review in suitable sections/chapters, conclusions, list of references and annexure,
if any. Literature survey, report writing and critical reviewing become important skills to be
developed by every professional in the present day competitive business environment.

Tasks
Report: The students are required to write a literature review on a topic related to
construction law and dispute resolution.
Presentation: The students are required to present the literature review findings.
Methodology

 The students shall work individually.


 The report must be word-processed in A4 size, with lines 1.5 spaced and printed only
on one side of the paper. The right, top and bottom margins should be 2.5cm and the
left margin should be 3cm.
 Students are advised to use Times New Roman 12pt in MS Word.
 The pages should be numbered including appendices.
 The headings, sub-headings, figures and tables should be numbered sequentially.
 Any other relevant material can be attached to the report as Annexes.
 Reports should contain;
o Preliminary Pages
o Project study brief
o Title page
o Acknowledgement
o Abbreviations
o Table of Contents ( including List of Tables and List of Figures)
o Main Text
o Introduction
o The text (preferably in appropriate chapters)
o Conclusions
o Recommendations (if any)
o Reference Material
o References according to APA Referencing System
o Annexes (if any)
The main text shall be in between 15 to 20 pages (excluding preliminary pages and
reference materials)

 Presentation;
o The findings should be presented in the form of Power Point presentation.
o The maximum duration for the presentation shall be 10 minutes followed by
Q&A.
