Ph. (616) 331-3045 Dani had been involved with the Grand Valley State University Volleyball program for the
past 3 years. While with our program Dani was a model student-athlete and one I truly
NCAA enjoyed mentoring. I would like to discuss Dani as an athlete, student, and most
important as a person.
National
Champions Dani transferred to GVSU in 2015 from Indiana State. Since coming to GVSU she has
2005 committed herself to being the best player and teammate she could be for our Laker
program. Dani was a leader and organizer for our team both on and off the court. She did
this with a consistent diet of hard work and a determined attitude to overcome any
NCAA Final Four adversity. Dani understood and respected the everyday stresses of training and
2001 balancing life, school and volleyball. Her success was due to her tireless work ethic and
her dedication to get the job done no matter what the situation.

2003 Second, Dani as a student. Dani has always put her academics as a high priority while
here at GVSU. She knew that helping children learn was her calling in life, and loved the

pursuit of becoming a teacher. She loved the pursuit of becoming a teacher. She would
2014 volunteer in class rooms as often as she could. In addition to being a quality student in
the classroom-3.599 overall GPA, Dani was our team representative with the Student-
Athlete-Academic-Counsel (SAAC), and our teams point person for setting up volunteer
NCAA Elite Eight opportunities throughout the year. The SAAC is our student-athlete driven organization
2000 that is in charge of planning and implementing volunteer opportunities, for our athletic
2007 department, on and off campus. While juggling all of these responsibilities was difficult
for Dani to balance she accomplished all of them with the grace and determination you
2010 would expect from such a high achieving and compassionate individual. These
accomplishments will help Dani be an extremely successful teacher and mentor in the
NCAA Playoffs future.
2000, 2001 Most impressive is Dani as a person. She displays the respect and compassion for those
2002, 2003 around her at all times that you want in a leader and mentor. As I mentioned above, Dani
2004, 2005 was so respected by her teammates and coaches that she was selected to be a captain for
both her Junior and Senior years. Dani was the “whatever needs to be done, I will do it”
2006, 2007 leader for our team. Dani’s teammates listened and respected what she had to say
2008, 2009 because they trusted and believed in the passion that she had for them and our
2010, 2012 program. She had volunteered and run camps for GVSU Volleyball, the 3 Mile
Project, and Michigan Volleyball Association. I believe Dani will be a great

success in everything she does in life because she approaches her work and life
with compassion and a driven desire to be great through servant leadership.
