Universal Design for Learning (UDL): Describe how you could address Universal Design for Learning principles
to extend and support the learning experiences for all students.
Engagement:
Representation:
Action and Expression:

For the UDL, Kahoot really hits a lot of key points. First of all it is easy to engage all students in the activity and
it is easy to see if a students it not being engaged. The anymononmosuo anonymous factor that you can
utilize in Kahoot can help for every student to be represented in the classroom as students who may have
been conscious to participate in fear of getting exposed for getting wrong answers may feel more inclined to
join knowing that this will not happen. This can then make the Kahoot a positive and engaging experience
and activity for all students to participate in.

Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity:
Prior to the review the students will have spent the last few weeks reading and analyzing the book The
Outsiders. This includes group discussion, class discussions, station activities, and the use of graphic
organizers. The activity will be presented as day one of a 2-day review session before students take their final
test over the book.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☐ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

During the activity students will answer each question one at a time. After every question, the answer and the
question will be explained thoroughly and if many people got it wrong I will bring up evidence from the text
that helps to support and show the answer.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not?
Showing the students the answer to a question and help guide them through the process of how I found the
answer. This will help to show the students not only the type of answers I am looking for but also show them
the process of finding it.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT activity there will be a following day of review and instruction based on the results of the SRT
activity.

How will the data be used?

I will take the information I learned from seeing the student’s responses to the questions paying close
attention to questions they may have missed. This will then be the framework for who I structure day 2 of
review where I focus on concepts and questions that the students don’t seem to quite understand yet.
Describe your personal learning goal for this activity.
I Hope to learn what concepts and questions may students understand and do not understand before they
have to take their test. I also hope my students realize what they know and do not know so they can then
structure their own review plan if they choose to.

Reflective Practice:
The use of the Kahoot in the lesson will not only provide a review for the students to remind them of key
concepts and ideas but also give the students and the teacher and Idea of where they or the students are in
terms of understanding ideas and concepts. This information can then be used to better helps the students in

creating a follow up review plan and activity based on the information I gathered from the way the students
respond to the Kahoot.
