MATTHEW 3.13-17 MARK 1.9-11 LUKE 3.21-22


3.13 Then 1.9 And it happened, in those days, that 3.21 Now it happened that
Jesus came from Galilee Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee
to John at the Jordan, to be baptised by him.
3.14 John would have prevented him,
saying, "I need to be baptised by you, and
do you come to me?" 3.15 But Jesus
answered him, "Let it be so now; for it is
proper for us in this way to fulfil all
righteousness." Then he consented.
when all the people were baptised,*

3.16 Now having been baptised, and was baptised and Jesus, having been baptised,
by John in the Jordan.

just as Jesus came up from the water, 1.10 And just as [he was] coming up out of the water,
look, the heavens were opened [to him] he saw the heavens torn apart¹ heaven was opened,
and he saw the Spirit of God and the Spirit 3.22 and the Holy Spirit
descending like a dove and alighting on him. descending like a dove² onto him. descended on him like a dove
in bodily form,

3.17 And look, a voice from the heavens said, 1.11 And a voice came from the heavens, and a voice came from heaven,
"This is my Son, the Beloved, with whom "You are my Son, the Beloved; with you "You are my Son,... the Beloved; with you
I am well pleased." I am well pleased."³ I am well pleased."
