Your Learning Plan

I am trying to build a drone that has a proximity sensor and camera sensors. A drone that flies with
Arduino programming in a pre-determined course on the map (Longitude and Latitude) and Avoids
obstacles when proximate—it can also have option of remote control. I don’t if that might be too
difficult for a novice but we please let’s discuss this to see it practicality.
1. What is your learning goal for these three weeks?
a. Learn to Solder (1st week)
b. Learn to Weld (2nd week)
c. Learn Carpentry and Drafting involved in cutting the drone’s dimensions (3rd week)
d. Refresh on CAD (4th week)
e. Final Draft and Drone Design (5th week)
f. Learn to 3D Print and Machine Park from CNC Mill (6th week)
g. Machine and 3D print CAD and CNC parts (7th week)
h. Learn Arduino Programming necessary in creating the Project (8th week -10th week)
i. Finish Drone Mechanical Design/ Start Programming Drone and Testing (11th week -12th
week)
j. Finalize Project and Test it! (13th week to 14th week/15th week)

2. What final project do you hope to create (should tentatively take ~1½ weeks to plan and
complete).
a. First 7 Weeks (Finish Skills Learning and CAD Design Process)
b. 8th-12 weeks Programming Aspect and Trail Testing
c. 13th week-14th week (Final Testing)

3. What you need to learn in order to create this project and meet this learning goal. These fall
into three categories:
a. Procedural skills to master
i. Soldering
ii. Welding
iii. Carpentry
iv. Mechanical Assembly of Parts
v. CNC Machine

b. Conceptual understandings to learn

i. Carpentry
ii. Tool Usage
iii. CAD Design

c. Knowledge to gain
i. Arduino Programming
ii. Course plot building
iii. CNC Machine Operation

4. What steps can we take in order to learn these? (~1½ weeks)

a. Explicitly listed above, but I will need some reasonably minimal financial support on this
project.

5. How will you know when you have learned these learning goal categories?
a. I will be capable of creating and continuing with the project with little to no assistance
from more experienced personal like the teacher or a more knowledgeable student

6. Are there any resources needed or anything else that needs to be addressed before you get
started?
a. No resources need to get started but I will need parts, (wood, foam, Arduino parts, etc.
to bring the drone to fruition)
