o GOAL: Encourage student engagement in reading comprehension and connection to History-Social Science standards. o SAMPLE: OBJECTIVE: Develop and implement at least one project based learning activity for Ancient Civilizations (short/long-term). o RATIONALE: Reflects new History-Social Science Standards K-12 emphasis on interactive learning. o NBPTS: Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students. o TLMD: Domain 4. o GOAL: Ensure the development and/or selection of curriculum that is pedagogically appropriate and encompasses strategies for building conceptual understanding. o RATIONALE: Brown and Kane argue that conceptual understanding leads to abilities of transferring skills to new situations. o NBPTS: Proposition 2: Teachers know the subjects they teach and how to teach those subjects to students. o TLMD: Domain 4.
