Software/book requirements

• You are not required to purchase any software or books

• Software is all free
o We will help you install it at induction
• Ebooks are available via AIT library
o ensure you watch instructional video on how to access them
• Commercial software will be provided for you (e.g
tableau)
• Min spec for laptop – no min spec required, but would
recommend a laptop with 4Gb of RAM and an SSD

You will be required to submit a 20,000 word
academic thesis in December 2019

• Exams – no exams, all continuous
assessment/project work
• There may be some element of group work
(grouped by geographical location – so you can
meet up)
• Class material provided weekly (“scaffolding”)

•How many hours per week is there of delivered material?

•If something in the delivered material requires clarification can that be sought?
•Is the course more theoretical or more applied?
•What is the nature, scale and scope of the project? Are examples available?

•If a student’s employer is not open to the student accessing/studying its data for the purposes of
the course, are there other channels available for the student to complete the project?

•How many submissions / deadlines are there during the course?

•In the event of missing / failing an exam are repeat exams available?

•Are there costs not yet announced? Exam fees, software, specialist books or others.
•Are there professional associations linking with AIT and data science graduates?
•Are there career guidance facilities during the year?
•Is parking available for the Friday workshops?
