The student will study 1. Properties of exponents. Chapter 2: Exponents 2. Powers of 10 and scientific notations. 3. How to add, subtract, and multiply polynomials by using properties of exponents and combining like terms. The student will study 1. Greatest common factors. Chapter 3: Factoring Polynomials 2. How to factor polynomials. 3. How to factor special products. 4. How to choose a factoring method. The student will study 1. Identifying and graphing quadratic functions. Chapter 4: Quadratic functions and 2. Transforming quadratic equations. Equations 3. Solving quadratic equations. 4. Using factoring to graph quadratic functions and quadratic equations. The student will study 1. How to organize data in tables, graphs, and plots. 2. How to find the central tendency of a data set by calculating the mean, median, and mode. Chapter 5: Organizing and Displaying Data 3. Writing experimental and theoretical propabilities as ratios, percents, and decimals. 4. Combinations, permutations, and factorial as extensions of multiplication. The student will study 1. Another type of sequence – geometric sequences. Chapter 6: Geometric Sequences 2. Two more types of functions – exponential and square- root functions. 3. Raical equations. The student will study 1. How to identify, write, and graph equations of inverse Chapter 7: Rational Functions and variation. Expressions 2. How to graph rational functions and simplify rational expressions. 3. How to solve rational expressions.
