Installing INTViewer

System Requirements
o Java J2SE 1.7.0 or higher (64 bit) installed.
o A graphics card compatible with OpenGL 3.1 or greater and its vendor-
provided driver. The video driver must have a backward compatible profile for
OpenGL 2.1 and GLSL version 1.2.
o 4GB of memory

Java Installation

INTViewer requires that the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) be installed on your machine. If
you plan to do software development with INTViewer, the Java Development Kit (JDK) needs to
be installed instead.

Before beginning the actual install of INTViewer, make sure that the correct version of java is
loaded. Bring up a command prompt window. In the command prompt window, enter the
command java -version.

If a message similar to java is not recognized as an internal or external

command is returned, then java is not installed.

If a message similar to
java version "1.7.0_13"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_13-b20)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 23.7-b01, mixed mode)

is returned, then java is installed.

INTViewer requires at least version 1.7.0 or higher. If the numbers in the returned statements
begin with 1.7 or above, an adequate version of java in installed.

Installing Java

You can download the Java Runtime Environment from the Internet (it is a free download).
Using a web browser, go to: http://www.java.com .

This will take you to a Java SE download page. To start the process, click on the “Free Java
Download”. A “File Download” menu will appear, select a location on your computer and select
save (recommended), this will download an installer (JavaSetup7uXX.exe). If the “Save” option
was selected, navigate to where the downloaded file was saved and execute it. There are two
ways in windows to execute the file, double click on it or
in a command window type the path and file name. A wizard will install the latest version of
Java.

Plug-in developers must use the JDK selection. Begin the search at
http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html.

Installing INTViewer:

Once you have confirmed that java is installed, you can install the INTViewer. Navigate to
where the INTViewer install file was saved. Remember its name is: INTViewerInstaller.jar.

In windows, double-click on the file and an installer will start. If this fails, go to a command
window (Start->Run->cmd) and set your directory to where the install file exists and enter:

java –jar INTViewerInstaller.jar

For Linux and UNIX systems, execute the Java command: java –jar
path/INTViewerInstaller.jar in a command window.

The first page, shown below, allows the selection of the preferred language. Select the language
from the pull down menu, and press OK. English is the default.

The next page is a Welcome page and is:

Click Next to continue. The next page of is the license agreement, check the ‘I
accept…” checkbox to continue.
The next page provides for the specification of the install directory.
The default location for the INTViewer installation on windows is c:\Program
Files\INT\INTViewer. For Linux/UNIX systems the default path is $HOME/INT/INTViewer. If
another location is preferred, use the “browse” button to get a directory choosing menu or type in
a known path. After clicking the Next button, a dialog will appear confirming the creation of the
new directories or if they already exists, permission to overwrite.
Make sure you have write privileges to the directory selected.
This page allows the selection of the Packs. The pack “INTViewer Application” is required and
cannot be declined (unchecked). This is all that is needed for INTViewer to perform. The
“INTViewer API Documentation” is needed only if plugins are to be written for the
INTViewere. “INTViewer Tutorial” pack includes instructional “pdf” files for various
INTViewer operations. Experienced users who need to save space may uncheck this option.
Check the packs desired, and click Next.

When the desired options have been selected, click Next. This will bring up the final dialog
shown below.
This page is a status report of the installation. The first bar indicates the file and “pack” being
installed, the bottom bar measures the number of packs installed as compared to the total number
to install. In the example above, the 4th pack of the 5 requested is being installed. When all
selected packs have been installed, the Next button will become enabled (not grayed out). Click
Next.

The dialog below places a shortcut in the Start-Menu and optionally a desktop icon to start
INTViewer. The default condition (shown) only adds INTViewer to the start-menu. If you
desire an icon on the desktop, check the item “Create additional shortcuts on the desktop”. The
bottom text box contains the phrase (INTViewer in the example) used in the start menu and as a
label for the desktop icon. It may be changed.
If an icon is added to the desktop, it will look like:

The last dialog page is:

It reports on the success of the installation, and informs that a un-installer has been created. A
script can be generated that allows the identical installation (same packs, directories, etc) on
other computers. Click the “Done” button to dismiss the dialog.

Licensing:

Obtain a license file from INT Inc. It should have the name “license.dat” for the standalone or
concurrent installations. Due to firewall and other reasons, license files are sometimes
transmitted under other names (e.g. license.txt), they may be renamed to the proper name. When
requesting a license, have the host name or IP address and the host_id available. In the case of
concurrent users, this information is for the machine that will be running the license manager.
How to get server ID information is listed below.[ How to get Server ID ]

Single Standalone Installations: Place the license file (license.dat) in the directory where
INTViewer was installed. It will be the same directory as selected in the installation. On
windows systems, if the default was accepted, it is C:\Program Files\INT\INTViewer.

For multi-user (concurrent licensing) systems, The INTViewer uses the FLEXnet, version 10.1
or later, licensing facility from Flexera Software. A copy of the license must reside in the
installation directory of each INTViewer installation. A copy must also reside on the machine
which is running the FLEXnet license manager. See the FLEXnet License Administration
Guide, for information on how to install, setup, run and manage the license manager.

Evaluation licenses are dated licenses. An evaluation license may be used on any platform. It
ignores everything but the machine time/date.

Executing INTViewer:

In the directory where the installation was placed and the license.dat file exists, there is a script
file named: INTViewer.bat or INTViewer.sh depending on the operating system.

Windows user may double-click on INTViewer.bat or, from a command window, set the
directory to the location of the install (i.e. c:\Program Files\INT\INTViewer) and then enter
“intviewer” at the prompt.

For Unix/Linux users, double-click on the application icon if it was installed or from a command
window run the startup script “intviewer.sh”.

Server ID
To obtain a server ID, locate the system type below and follow the instructions for the platform.

For Windows, the ID is a 12-character ethernet address:

in a command window, type command: ipconfig/all
Look for Physical Address and remove dashes.
Example: 0011F5018FAA

For Linux, the ID is a 12-character Ethernet address

Type command: /sbin/ifconfig eth()
Remove colons from Hwaddr.
Example: 00400516E525

For Mac OS X, type s/bin/ifconfig eth(),

And remove colons from the ether value.

For Solaris, the ID is a 32 bit (8 hex characters) hostId.

Type command hostid
Example: 170a3472

Alternatively, download lmutil from Macrovision, and determine the Server ID

By using the command lmutil lmhostid to get license server’s ID.
