D.A.R.E Letter to Self

Criteria:
1. To write a letter to your future self outlining the lessons you have learned in DARE. This
needs to be genuine and real to you as you will get it back to read when you are in grade
10.

2. You must have 5 paragraphs or more: Introduction paragraph, 3 body paragraphs on

different topics. You can talk about any three of the following topics; tobacco, alcohol, peer
pressure, risky situations, communication, decision making model, stress or bullying. Your
letter must end with a concluding paragraph. The last sentence of your conclusion must
be your pledge.

3. Your letter must include a pledge in the concluding paragraph starting with something
similar to: After completing the DARE program I pledge to______________________________ .
This must be heartfelt and match what you talked about in your letter.

4. Your letter must end with a closing followed by your name (Sincerely, Ms. M)

5. You will have 4 classes to finish your letter in good copy - Due Monday June 5th.

6. Two students will be chosen to read this letter out loud at the DARE graduation.

After spending time thinking about these important topics I have decided to make a pledge. I pledge
to never be a bystander when I witness bullying. I will help make a stop to the terrible situations
bullying causes. I also pledge to be responsible in my decision making and use the decision making
model to ensure I am making wise choices.
