SECTION 04 20 00 - UNIT MASONRY

CalStar® Fly Ash Brick offers a green material choice. Its performance properties meet or exceed ASTM
C 216 for SW Clay Brick, allowing it to be used in place of clay face brick. Making fly ash into brick
binds and immobilizes it, transforming an environmental burden into a useful material. Fly ash brick
utilizes a high proportion of recycled content and has very low embodied energy and carbon dioxide
emission associated with production.

This document provides language suitable for adding fly ash brick to an existing Unit Masonry
specification. Review CalStar fly ash brick product literature, then edit specifications to meet the project’s
requirements. Brick industry standard guide specifications are available from BIA at . For assistance, visit
or call 510-793-9500.
