Syro Malabar Church Bray

First Class
Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as
it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who
trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee.


Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.
Holy Mary Mother of God,pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

Glory be to the Father,and to the Son,and to the Holy Spirit:


As it was in the beginning,is now,and ever shall be,world without end.Amen

In the sign of the holy cross, deliver us from our enemies Oh Lord,
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.Amen.

Second Class
Prayer before Confession

I confess to Almighty God, and you, my brothers and sisters that I have sinned through my own
fault, in my thoughts and in my words , in what I have done and in what I have failed to do, and I
ask blessed Mary, ever virgin, all the angels and saints and you, my brothers and sisters to pray
for me to the Lord our God. Amen.

Act of Contrition

O my God, I am sorry for all my sins, for not loving others and for not loving you. Help me to live like
Jesus and not sin again. Amen.

Third Class
The Apostles Creed
I believe in God the Father Almighty,
Creator of Heaven and earth;
I believe in Jesus Christ,Our Lord,
He was conceived by the Holy Spirit
and born of the Virgin Mary.
He suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
He descended to the dead.

On the third day He rose again.
He ascended into Heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting.
Amen.

Fourth Class
Hail, holy Queen, Mother of mercy, hail, our life, our sweetness and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor
banished children of Eve: to thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears.
Turn then, most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this our exile, show unto us
the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus, O merciful, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary! Amen.

Memorare of St.Bernard
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that any one who fled to thy
protection, implored thy help, and sought thy intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired with this confidence, I fly unto thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother, to thee I come, before thee
I stand sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate! despise not my petitions, but, in thy mercy, hear and answer me. Amen.

Sixth Class
The Joyful Mysteries

1. The Annunciation- When the angel of the lord appeared to Mary he said ‘Hail Mary full of grace
the Lord is with thee blessed are thou among women.’
2. The Visitation- She cried out with a loud voice and said ‘Blessed are thou among women and
blessed is the fruit of thy womb’
3. The birth of Jesus- And she wrapped him in swaddling clothes and laid him in a manger because
there was no room for them in the inn.
4. The Presentation- When the days of her purification were fulfilled according to the law of Moses
Mary took Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.
5. Finding of the child Jesus in the Temple- It came to pass after three days when they found Jesus
in the temple sitting amongst the teachers both listening to them and asking them questions.

Seventh Class
The Sorrowful Mysteries

1. The Agony in the Garden- and his sweat became as drops of blood running down upon the
ground. Raising from tears he came to find the disciples sleeping for sorrow.
2. The scourging at the Pillar- Pilate then took Jesus and had him scourged.
3. Crowning with thorns- They stripped him and put on him a scarlet cloth and plating a crown with
thorns they put it on his head and read into his right hand.
4. Carrying of the Cross- Bearing the Cross for himself he went forth the place called the Skull in
Hebrew Golgotha.
5. Crucifixion- Jesus cried out with a loud voice and said ‘Father into thy hands I commend my
spirit’ and then he expired.

Eighth Class
The Glorious Mysteries

1. The Resurrection- He has risen he is not here behold the place where they had laid him.
2. The Ascension- So then the Lord after he had spoken to them was taken up into heaven and
seated at the right hand of the Lord.
3. Descend of the Holy Spirit- They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in
foreign tongues even as the Holy Spirit prompted them to speak
4. Assumption- And a great sign appeared in Heaven a woman clothed with the sun and the moon
was under her feet and upon her head a crown of twelve stars.
5. Coronation- Thou are the glory of Jerusalem the honour of our people the hand of the lord has
strengthen thee and therefore those shall be blessed forever.

9-12 Class
The Mysteries of Light/ the Luminous Mysteries

1. Christ’s Baptism in the Jordan- The Spirit descended like a dove on him and a voice came from
Heaven ‘you are my Son , my Beloved and with you I am well pleased.’
2. Marriage at Cana- Jesus changed water into wine the first of his signs revealing his glory and his
disciples believed in him.
3. Proclamation of the Kingdom of God with its call to Conversion- the time is fulfilled and the
Kingdom of God has come near repent and believe in the good news.
4. Transfiguration- He transfigured before them and his shone like the sun and his clothes became
dazzling white.
5. Christ’s institution of the Eucharist- He took bread, broke it and gave it to them saying ‘this is my
body which is given for you, do this in remembrance of me’.
