Qualifications & Education

Registration with the GMC Basic Surgical Skills Course

ATLS

Completion of FY2 (or equivalent) year with Critical Care experience

Knowledge & Experience a surgical rotation
1 Year in Cardiothoracic Surgery at FY2
Level

Knowledge and ability to apply principals of Post-operative management.

Skills & Abilities
cardio-respiratory physiology

Ability to perform minor operative Thoracotomy, median sternotomy,

procedures such as wound debridement, harvesting of veins and arterial conduits
abscess drainage, wound closure etc. for coronary artery surgery.

Ability to cope with stress and take Ability to organise own learning
responsibility. programme.
Initiative
Good communication skills.
 Production of good medical notes.
