unt Minnie’s Atlas and Imaging-
Specific Diagnosis, 3rd ed. was
written as an expansion of the
second edition, and the classic
cases have been updated, making the book a
more complete encyclopedia of classic cases.
The format has not changed from the prior
editions and is set up by chapters for each sub-
specialty, with three separate chapters to fur-
ther divide neuroradiology into spine, head and
neck, and brain.
There are an appropriate number of cases
in each subspecialty for a single-volume
book. The chapters are fast-paced and easily

chapter authors give clearly written, succinct
information that encompasses the expected
knowledge for the oral board examination.
The layout of images is uniformly carried
throughout each chapter. A personal prefer-
ence that may not appeal to others would be
to have the diagnosis on the same page as the
images for quicker review, which also would
require less flipping of pages. The Aunt Min-
nie Pearls for each case are appropriate and
excellent for a quick review without rereading
the entire case text.
In my opinion, this book is a perfect sup-
plement to the multitude of case review books,
Aunt Minnie’s Atlas and Imaging-Specific
Diagnosis, 3rd ed. provides for a good, quick
reintroduction to a subspecialty before diving
into a more detailed review book. The book
definitely achieves the goal set forth in the ti-
tle. Overall, the image quality is good and the
cases closely adhere to the concept of classic
cases, or “Aunt Minnies.” I gladly recommend
this book to all radiologists, specifically those
preparing for board examinations.
