Dr. Anjum is a ‘Doctor of Medicine’ {M.D. Paediatrics} from University of Kashmir and a multifaceted
litterateur having earned recognition from beyond borders for his creative, analytical and critical literary
works. Having previously worked as Registrar & Lecturer Paedia in GMC Srinagar for 5 years (2004-2009)
and Consultant Paediatrician, with J&K Health & Medical Education Department, for 8 years (2004-2009);
Dr. Anjum has recently joined as Asst. Professor in ‘Islamic Studies & Languages’ at BGSB University
Rajouri. He has brilliant academic record and varied interests particularly in medicine, sports, literature
and Comparative Study of Religions particularly Islam.

Dr. Anjum completed his graduation (M.B; B.S. (1985) from University of Jammu, M.D. Paedia (1997) &
M.A. Islamic Studies (2010) from university of Kashmir, CIC from IGNOU (2002) and M.A. NET Urdu(2009)
& M.A. NET English (2012) from MANUU Hyderabad. Further he has qualified JK SET in Islamic Studies
(2016) and UGC NET in Islamic Studies; three Times in 2010, 2012 and 2013 besides UGC NET in
Comparative Study of Religions as an allied subject of Islamic Studies in January 2017. He is Presently
perusing Ph.D in Islamic Studies at University of Kashmir, on the topic, “Religious Thought of Maulana
Wahiduddin Khan: An Analytical Study”

In Medical Sciences, Anjum worked as Resident doctor, Research Scholar, Registrar, Lecturer and
Consultant, spending 11 long years in Teaching Hospitals (GMC Jammu/Srinagar). He has exceptional
honour of being a key member in establishing Post Graduate Departments of Paediatrics at SMGS
Hospital-GMC Jammu (1993) & at GB Pant Hospital Srinagar (2005). Further Dr. Anjum has put in 30yrs of
uninterrupted gazette service and has recently retired under V.R.S (Volutary Retirement from Service) on
31.08.2017.

In literature Dr. Rafique Anjum has authored more than 25 books including, first ever History of Gojri
Literature in 10 volumes, Gojri-English-Urdu dictionary, Gojri Grammar, Gojri Kahwat Kosh & Banjara, a
treatise on life and works Indo-Pak Gojri writers. Dr. Anjum is presently the most read and referred to,
writer of Gojri having been conferred with highest state level Award for Excellence in Literature beside
being a Member of General Council of J&K cultural academy. J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages;
has published a special issue of ‘Sheeraza’ on “Life and Works of Dr. Rafique Anjum” in recognition of his
contributions to Gojri language. The University of Jammu Awarded M.Phil to a scholar for his scholarly
research on, Urdu Poetry of Dr. Rafiq Anjum. In 2015, Dr. Anjum was invited to frame syllabus and
establish ‘Department of Tribal Studies’ (Gojri) at Central University of Himachal Pradesh.

Anjum has attended multiple National & International conferences and contributed dozens of Research
papers in National & International journals. His honors and awards in other fields are additional features.

MY RESEARCH INTERESTS:
I have four major areas of research, which are much inter-related to each other:

i) As I am working on this as my PhD work so my primary interest lies in “Contemporary

Islamic Discourse”, with a focus on the Contemporary Thinkers of South Asia (India &
Pakistan). In this area, few of my papers/articles have been published.

ii) My Second interest lies in “Revival and Reform in Islam” while remaining firmly grounded in
Islamic Primary Sources; and responding to Modern Challenges in the contemporary Islamic
intellectual discourses vis-a-vis challenges.

iii) Another area of my special interest is ’Comparative Study of Religions’. I have qualified NET
in Comparative Study of Religions in Jan.2017.

 Evolution of Gojri: A chapter on Gojri Language written in English and included in “Gujjars
of Jammu &Kashmir” edited by K. Warikoo and published by Himalyan Research and
Cultural Foundation, New Delhi in 2000.

 ‘Jadid Gojri Adab’ a detailed account of modern Gojri Literature included as a chapter in
‘Gujjar Shanakhat ka Safar’ edited by Dr. Javed Rahi, Secretary Tribal Research Foundation.
Notable Works:

A. Golden History of Gojri Language & Literature ( Ten Volumes): The only available history of
Gojri language and literature , widely read and cited in Gojri and Urdu research works. Ppublished
by J&K Academy of Art, Culture & Languages between 2000 and 2007, it comprising of ten Volumes,
including, Qadeem and Jadid Gojri Adab, Gojri Gazal, Drama Nigari as well as an abridged volume. It
includes forward by Professor Emiratus, (Dr.) Qudus Javed a well known international Urdu
Litterateur.

B. Gojri LEXICOGRAPHY (Dictionaries): The First-ever Gojri-English dictionary was published

privately in 2004 that was widely acclaimed and appreciated by literary circles. It was well received
internationally and earned the author State Level, Award for excellence in literature in 2007.
Another mile stone in lexicography was achieved in 2008 by publication of Gojri-Urdu-English
Dictionary, the first multilingual dictionary in Gojri, that includes forward by Prof. Zahuruddin ex-
Registrar, University of Jammu.

C. BANJARA: It includes diligently collected biographical details and selected creative works of over
140 Gojri Writers, residing in different parts of the world who have contributed in any form to the
development of Gojri Language Literature and history. The book includes a detailed introduction
and forward by Kh. Muhammad Yusuf Taing, Ex-Director General of Culture, J&K.

D. Basic Gojri Grammar: A Gojri Discourse Grammar, co-authored with Mansha Khaki, is the first
attempt in writing a user friendly hand book on the subject in Gojri Language itself, unlike the more
technical volume of Prof. JC Sharma. It also includes Gojri Idioms phrases and proverbs a rich
heritage of Gujjar culture and traditions, collected from sources of Gojri Oral Literature.

E. Creative Writings: It includes a ‘Kora Kagaz’ a coolection of GojriShort Stories, firs ever in Gojri,
‘Dil Darya’ a coolection of Gojri Poetry that earned the author, Best Book Award in 1996; and
Urdu Poetry, KAASH that was the topic of research (M. Phil. ) in University of Jammu, 2010.

Miscellaneous Works: Including, anthologies of Gojri poetry (Soch samandar), Gojri ghazal (Ghazal
Silony) and edited works like, Aks e jamal, Peehng and Anjum Shanasi.
