CHEMCHLOR ®SCM AUTO DOSING SYSTEM

A Streaming Current Monitor (SCM) is an instrument used for charge analysis that exists on small,
suspended particles in liquid. Measurement of charge that converted into A.C. signal or Streaming
Current, proportional to charge density, is electronically processed and displayed. This signal can be
diverted to chemical dosing pump which enable to continuously maintain the optimum dosage of
coagulant.

CHEMCHLOR® SCM AUTO DOSING SYSTEM is CHEMKIMIA innovative engineering design

which incorporates the SCM with Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and controlled with a 10”
touch screen monitor. The CHEMCHLOR SCM system with PLC can be linked to 2 units of dosing
pumps which CHEMKIMIA highly recommended as Dosing System / Partner with CHEMCHLOR ®
ACH.

SCHEMATIC FLOW AND INSTALLATION DIAGRAM

METHODOLOGY AND OPERATION PROCESS (METHOD OF STATEMENT)
1. Raw water from river is pumped to the coagulation mixing chamber whereby coagulant is added
to coagulate the suspended particles from the river to form floc.

2. Well mixed or homogenous coagulated water is pumped or by gravity flow to the SCM sampling
chamber at 600-1000lph and ensure scm sensor wetted part fully immerged in the coagulated
water by control the drain and inlet valve of the sampling chamber.

3. SCM sensor will read the charges of the coagulated water sample in SCU and send this signal to
the main control panel as the present value (PV).

4. The PLC in the main control panel will give a command to dosing pump either to increase or
decrease the dosage of the coagulant base on the set value (SV) (normally is 0.00 SCU).

5. If the PV is higher than SV, the dosing pump will slowly decease the dosage and increase the
dosage if PV is lower than SV depend on the incoming raw water condition.

6. This auto tuning process is controlled by the programmed PID loop to ensure the coagulated
water is always in the optimum condition which is well coagulated and achieved good floc
formation.

7. The well coagulated water/good floc formation water will be then flow to the clarifier/settling
tank for the solid and liquid separation process by settling. Clear supernatant will overflow to
filtration process and suspended solids will settled at the bottom of the clarifier/settling tank and
discharge as sludge.
8. When system is operated in manual mode, a fixed or known dosage of coagulant in ppm/mg/L
can be set in the HMI touch screen for manual dosing.

9. Alarm will be activated through buzzer or through SMS (with sim card) to alert operator when
there is abnormal operation condition like high/low SCU, sampling pot low level, metering
pump fault, or water quality issue.

10. The SCM system is recommended to be installed in the shaded area or in door for best
protection.

11. The power supply to the SCM shall be at 240V,single phase 50/60hz.

12. Two dosing pumps is allowed to connect to the SCM system via the M12 connector provided.
System is able to control solenoid pump with 4-20mA signal input or motor driven pump via the
inverter provided.
