Descartes is known for being one of the
first modern philosophers inspiring
following generations of philosophers,
leading them to form what we know today
as continental rationalism. He is famous
for having made an important connection
between geometry and algebra, which
allowed for the solving of geometrical
problems by way of algebraic equations.

globe. The coordinate plane of x and
y has a great significance globally
because it is used in everything from
making structures, organizing a
room, to finding different locations on
the globe, etc.

Reflection
From doing this assignment we learned many
new things. We learned that Descartes made a
great impact on the world of math by creating
the coordinate plane. This impacted us as a
learner of mathematics because we get a further
understanding of the fundamentals of what
we’re learning in class.
