1. Do you agree with my definition of ‘culture’ as used in describing an effective learning


environment? If not, how would you define it? Would you use another term for what I am
discussing?

Yes, I agree with the definition of ‘culture’ as used in describing an effective environment
which stated culture as the dominant values and beliefs that influence decission-making.
In developing an effective learning environment culture or an atmosphere in the classroom,
both students and teacher held in hand together in making the dessicion so a culture that
wish to shape in the environment could happen.

2. Can you describe the culture of the institution in which you work? What are its prime
characteristics or goals? Or are there many cultures?

The culture of the institution I work in develops an environment which empower and
reinforce the unity between different races, such as Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans and
other minorities. And also the culture of giving spaces and freedom to explore within the
assignments given, in a holistic way.

3. Can you describe the culture within your own class or classes? What do you ‘inherit’ and
what can you create or change?

The culture within my own class, is the importance of social development which taken as
seriously as academic growth and learning. I woulld like to embody a sense of coherent, a
buoyant environment of learning culture in my own class.

4. Do you share my views on the importance of understanding the culture within a learning
environment? Or is culture something a teacher should/can ignore?

A teacher should not ignore the importance of understanding the culture within a learning
environment as sharing and celebrate differences in learning styles, culture and
background enable a development in an inclusive and globally competent school culture.

5. What would be the ideal culture for your classes/teaching? How could you foster or create
such a culture?

My ideal culture for my classes develops a positive school culture, where every member
feels free to be themselves and pursue their learning while take into account of the
diversity in the classes. As each studdent should see themselves reflected somewhere in
the physical environment and feel somfortable learning at their own pace. In order to
foster such a culture, both students and teachers shpuld participate and play their own role
to make it works.
