Describe the instructional activities that will occur PRIOR to the SRT activity and how you will introduce
the SRT activity.

This SRT activity will be given during the historical figures of Georgia unit. The unit will last a few weeks. A
different historical figure will be covered each day and activities will be given to go with the figure. The SRT
will be given at the end of the unit as a review for test prep and as a formative assessment to see what
students need review on before the test. I will introduce the activity as a closing activity at the end of a
class.

Describe the purpose of the SRT activity (check all that apply):
☐ Assess prior knowledge ☐ Anticipatory set (Create interest in a topic) ☐ To illuminate common
misconceptions ☒ Formative assessment of content knowledge (for purpose of differentiation and
mastery for ALL students) ☐ Summative assessment of content knowledge ☒ Test preparation
☐ Survey/Poll ☐ Discussion starter ☐ “Homework” collection ☐ Other (please explain):

Briefly describe what will happen DURING the SRT activity:

Students will be asked to get a device that connects to the internet, and go to Kahoot. It I will give them the
code to access the Kahoot. Students will put their names in and the class will begin the Kahoot. There are 8
questions and each question will be displayed for 20 seconds so this activity will only last a few minutes to
wrap up a class.

Type of questions/prompts used in this activity (check all that apply):

☒ Multiple choice ☐ Multiple select ☐ True/False ☐ Yes/No
☐ Short open-ended response or fill-in the blank ☐ Longer open-ended response

If you are unable to provide a working sample of your questions, please list them below (8-10):

Who created Girl Scouts?

Who was the first African American MLB Player?
Which Georgia Resident was the 37th president of the United States?
Who founded the colony of Georgia?
What is MLK known for?
What did Sequoyah create?
Who was a mediator between Native Americans and settlers?
Where did the Creek Leader Tomochichi give James Oglethorpe land to build a city?

Right/Wrong answers: Will there be right/wrong answers to these questions?

☒ Yes ☐ No
☐ Mixed (Some will have correct answers, other will not.)
Immediate corrective feedback: Will you pre-select correct answers to some of all of the questions and
display correct response to the class after the SRT activity?
☒ Yes
☐ No
Why or why not? Kahoot keeps score and tells students if their answer is correct or not. The score will be an
incentive to students.

Describe what will happen AFTER the SRT activity?

After the SRT activity I will give the top 3 finishers a piece of candy from the treasure box. I will go over the
questions and their correct answers and ask students for questions or clarifications. I will ask the class to
put their devices up and begin getting ready for dismissal.

How will the data be used?

As a result of this activity I will be able to gauge which students have mastered the historical figures standard
and which have not. The activity won’t be kept for a grade. The students will know their own scores though. If
many students missed the same questions I will be able to reteach lessons on those historical figures before
the end of unit test.

Describe your personal learning goal for this activity

Spring 2018_SJB
Student Response and Assessment Tools

My personal learning goal for this activity is seeing how I can use a SRT and see if it helps students
engagmenet and participation. I have never created a Kahoot before. I hope to learn what students need
further instruction on and I hope it is a good review for students.

Reflective Practice:

I remember doing Kahoots in school and they were very fun. I feel the activity I created would be a fun way to
review for a unit test. Further extending the lesson, I could have students make their own Kahoot with their
own questions and exchanging it with a partner for extra practice.
