MENDOCINO NATIONAL FOREST

FOREST ORDER NO. 08-19-01


RANCH FIRE CLOSURE

Pursuant to 16 USC 551 and 36 CFR 261.50(a) and (b), and to provide for public safety, the
following acts are prohibited within the Mendocino National Forest. This Order is effective
from March 13, 2019, until July 1, 2020.

1. Being within the Ranch Fire Closure Area. The boundary of the Ranch Fire
Closure Area begins at the intersection of County Road No. 301 (CR 301) and
the Mendocino National Forest boundary (Forest Boundary), then continues
north along the east border of CR 301 to its intersection with Forest Road No.
16N50, then continues south to its intersection with the boundary of Middle
Creek Campground, then continues west, then south, then east, then north
along the boundary of the Middle Creek Campground (not including the
Novice OHV Area) to its intersection with CR 301, then continues south
along the west side of CR 301 to its intersection with the Forest Boundary,
then continues west and north along the Forest Boundary to its intersection
with Forest Road No. M8, then continues east along the north side of Forest
Road No. M8 to its intersection with Forest Road No. Ml, then continues
north along the east side of Forest Road No. Ml to its intersection with the Eel
River, then continues east along the south bank of the Eel River to its
intersection with Scott Dam, then continues south along the southern and
eastern shoreline of Lake Pillsbury to its intersection with the boundary of the
Pine Point Day Use Area (Day Use Area), then continues east along the
boundary of the Day Use Area to its intersection with Forest Road No. 18Nl6,
then continues east and north along the south and west side of Forest Road
No. 18N16 to its intersection with Forest Road No. Ml, then continues east
along the south side of Forest Road No. Ml to its intersection with Forest
Road No. M6, then continues north along the east side of Forest Road No. M6
to its intersection with Corbin Creek, then continues east along Corbin Creek
to its intersection with Forest Road No. M3, then continues north along the
east side of Forest Road No. M3 to its intersection with Forest Road No.
19N71, then continues south along the west side of Forest Road No. 19N71 to
its intersection with Forest Road No. l 9N32, then continues east along the
south side of Forest Road No. l 9N32 to its intersection with the Forest
Boundary, then continues south and west along the Forest Boundary back to
the starting point, as shown on Exhibits A and B. 36 CFR 261.52(e).

2. Being on any National Forest System road within the Ranch Fire Closure Area, as
shown on Exhibits A and B. 36 CFR 261.54(e).

3. Being on any National Forest System trail within the Ranch Fire Closure Area, as
shown on Exhibits A and B, or on any National Forest System trail listed below and
shown on Exhibit C.

• Forest Trail No. 69 Windy Point

36 CFR 261.55(a).

Pursuant to 36 CFR 261.50(e), the following persons are exempt from this Order:

1. Persons with a permit from the Forest Service specifically authorizing the
otherwise prohibited act or omission.

2. Any Federal, State, or local officer or member of an organized rescue or fire


fighting force in the performance of an official duty.

3. Owners or lessees of private land in the area, to the extent necessary to access
their land.

4. Persons engaged in business, trade, or occupation in the area.

These prohibitions are in addition to the general prohibitions contained in 36 CFR Part 261,
Subpart A.

A violation of these prohibitions is punishable by a fine of not more than $5,000.00 for an
individual or $10,000.00 for an organization or imprisonment for not more than six months or
both. 16 USC 551 and 18 USC 3559, 3571 and 3581.
