 Installation Procedure

The COALSCAN CITECT project is provided with a compressed version of the generic
project for a COALSCAN 9500. CITECT version 5.4 or later should be installed on the
computer that will connect to the COALSCAN. Connection between the COALSCAN
9500 and the computer (referred to as the I/O computer) is typically accomplished using a
RS422 or RS 485 hardware link. The protocol for communication is accomplished with a
specific COALSCAN driver that interfaces with the generic CITECT program structure.
This driver is managed by Real Time Instruments and all support for this should be
directed to Real Time Instruments. As this driver does not usually come standard with a
generic CITECT package it will require installing. The driver is supplied along with the
COALSCAN configuration on the COALSCAN configuration disk.

Below is an instruction set for installing and configuring the COALSCAN configuration
files:

• Install a CITECT version 5.4 (or greater) onto the COALSCAN I/O computer.
• On the CITECT explorer page click the “restore” button.
• In the top section of the dialog box there is a heading “restore from backup file”,
please select the brows button in this section and choose the relevant CD drive.
Choose the project called “Coalscan_9500.ctz” from the CD drive.
• Select “New Project” and then in the name field allow for the default name of
Coalscan_9500 (unless another name is required for specific reasons).
• In the location field leave the default directory as C:\Citect\User\Coalscan_9500
(unless another location is required for specific reasons).
• Click the “OK” button (the program will now install on the I/O computer and a
new project directory called Coalscan_9500 will appear under the project list.
• Using Windows Explorer rename C:\CITECT\BIN\PROTDIR.DBF to
C:\CITECT\BIN\PROTDIR_old.DBF.
• Check if C:\CITECT\BIN\CSCAN.DBF or C:\CITECT\BIN\CSCAN.DLL are
present and if they are please rename them C:\CITECT\BIN\CSCAN_old.DBF
and C:\CITECT\BIN\CSCAN_old.DLL respectively.
• Using Windows Explorer copy and CSCAN.DLL and CSCAN.DBF from the CD
to the C:\CITECT\BIN directory.
• If you are familiar with the computer setup procedure in the CITECT explorer
page please run this and for the startup page select MainMenu_1. If you are
unfamiliar with the computer setup procedure please follow the procedure below:
• Rename the CITECT.INI file to CITECT_old.INI in the
C:\WINDOWS\CITECT.INI (or C:\WINNT\CITECT.INI for WindowsNT).
• Copy the CITECT.INI file from the CD to C:\WINDOWS (or C:\WINNT for
WindowsNT).
• Run the program from the CITECT explorer page by selecting the run button.
