What are the story about the cave?

-it was when Mang Resting was looking for his farm animals
when he saw a monkey called “tsonggo” he run to catch it but
in his search he saw a “balete” tree. There are many antiques
hanged in the tree so he immediately told it to her neighbors
and then went back to the place where they saw the antiques.
Upon arrival, the antiques are already gone. They search for
the antique until they arrived at the littoral and there they
saw a cave. They entered the cave and when they were inside
they saw a piece of cloth which is now in the museum.

What is the significance of the cave during the first


period?

-the cave was use as a hide outs and protection when the
“Moros” attacked bantoanons
The significance of the cave during the first period is that it
serves as a hidden for the ancient people. It is the place
wherein they found secured if an enemy (referring to
Japanese people) arrived and try to attack them. If one of
them have been harmed and died for a certain reasons cave
are also served as a burial place for them. Their tools and
equipment was also discovered in the same place that is now
in our museum. The treasures that are found in the cave are
the coffins and the ikat cloth that are that are both now in our
museum.
Ikat cloth ipot cave
Here is where the ikat cloth, the oldest burial cloth in
Southeast Asia now displayed in the national museum, was
found. Situated in a cliff facing the rising sun, it is a small
cave which is very difficult to reach. Its name means bird’s
manure in the local language as it is the dwelling place of
many swifts “balinsasadaw”. Skulls, bones and some intact
Banton coffins (small size coffins made of hard wood with
handles shaped in the likeness of animals) remain there.
