Course Synopsis

This course will explain the hazard analysis and risk assessment techniques and its application in
the industries to avoid or prevent accidents. The course will cover topics on hazard, Risk, Risk
Analysis, Risk Ranking, Hazard Analysis and Awareness, Hazard analysis tools, bow tie
diagram, principle of risk management. The course will also include industrial hygiene, safe
work practice, consequence analysis, risk communication, case studies and safety culture to
enhance workplace/industrial safety.

Course Objectives (CO):

 To provide the importance of hazard analysis and risk management issues to prevent
losses due to industrial accidents

Course Learning Outcomes (CLO)

Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
 Understand and identify different types of workplace hazard
 Understand and apply principles of hazard identification
 Apply appropriate techniques for risk analysis
 Evaluate risk assessment to manage risk
