- This academic journal gives percentages on how many people die from different

types of cancers. It also describes the type of difficulties patients go through when

they have cancer and how music can help with those difficulties.The author’s

purpose in writing the article is to see how efficient music therapy if for cancer

patients and their families. The audience for this piece can be a multitude of

people. One group of people making up the audience could be doctors. They can

read this article and decide whether or not they’d like to use music therapy with

their patients based on the information given. The information in this article will

be used as a way to understand how music therapy works.

- National Nurses United covers health-related news, this page in particular is about

the petition of nurses to get medicare for all. Medicare for all would replace

insurance and would cover things like music therapy. The audience is intended to

be everyone. They want to make everyone aware that insurance should be

replaced with medicare. I will use this source as a way to show how music

therapy can be covered.

patients. The intended audience can be cancer patients as a way to give them

another option for treatment. Using this source is a way to understand how the

therapy helps patients and how it affects them.

pain. The intended audience can be doctors and patients alike. Doctors can look at

the study conducted and decide for themselves if it will help their patients.

Patients can also look into the study to see if music therapy would be a treatment

option they’re interested in. The study will be used to describe in my paper how

effective the therapy actually is.

- This source is a research study to not only understand how music therapy helps

cancer patients, but also how it helps their visitors and staff members. The

intended audience is cancer patients, their families, and the staff members

working with the cancer patients. “Bringing Music to Life” will be used to answer

my thesis question as to how music therapy helps cancer patients.

- This source goes into a little more depth than the rest. It explains a study on the

effectiveness of music therapy, in particular, how the vibration of the music helps

patients. The intended audience can be patients so they can be aware of,
specifically, how the therapy is helping them. The conclusions of the study will be

helpful in answering my thesis question directly.
