ACKNOLEDGEMENT
Any attempt at any level cannot be satisfatorily
completed without the support and guidance of
learned people.I would like to express my
immense gratitude to Mrs.Pradeep Kumar for
his constant support and motivation that has
encouraged me to come up with the
assignment .I am also thankful to all other
members who have rendered their whole
hearted support to all times for the project.

● Introduction
● Importance of sewage water treatment plant
● Sources of waste water

● Advantages of sewage treatment plant
INTRODUCTION
● Sewage treatment is the process of removing
contaminants from of waste water and household
sewage ,both effluents and domestic. It includes
physical, chemical and biological processes to remove
physical,biological contaminants.
● Its objective is to produce an environmentally safe
fluid waste stream and a solid waste suitable for
reuse.
● The objective of sewage treatement is to produce a
disposable efflufent without any harm.
SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT
IMPORTANCE OF SEWAGE
TREATMENT PLANT
● It is very important to provide some degree of
treeatment to waste water before it can be used
for agricultural or landscape irrigation.
● The principal objective of sewage treatment is
generally to allow human effluents to be
disposed of without danger to human health.
● Acc. to research,a large no.of people die from
water born dieseas, therefore it is very important
to get proper treatment of water for healthy
living.
SOURCES OF WASTE WATER
● Human waste
● Wsahing water
● Rainfall collected on roofs, yards
● Domestic sources
● Direct ingress of river water
WORKING
● Receiving chamber-
Here the waste water is first collected for the
treatment of water and to pass the waste water
to the other chamber for ongoing process.
● Screening and grit chamber-
This chamber is attached with iron screenig for
saparating the big particles like plastic,
branches of trees, other waste materials etc.And
the heavy small particals are settled down
through the Grit chamber with the gravity flow.
IRON BAR SCREENING
● Skimming tank-
In this tank oil, dirt and greec is removed from
the waste water which is come on this tank after
passing through the screening and grit
chamber.
● Primary sedimentation tank-
This tank is used to reduce BOD of waste water
,30% BOD is reduce in this process and the
organice waste or raw sludge is settle down in
this process. 60% suspended solid is also
removedhere.
● Aireation tank
In this tank air is ejected and air bubbles are
formed in it, this done for the purpose of aerobic
bio dioderation of organic matter present in the
waste water.so in this process oxygen is
supplied to breakdown the organic bateria, and
using it to clean the waste water.
● Secondary sedimentation tank-
In this tank the micro organism and solids are
settle down which are not settle down in
primary sedimentation tank.in this tank 70%
BOD is reduced and the suspended solids are
completly removed.
SECONDARY SEDIMENTATION
TANK
● Filteration chamber-
This chamber is filled with layer of sand ,fine
aggregate and coarse aggregate respectively,
these layers are provided to retain the extra fine
particles of waste water.
● Dis-infection chamder-
After passing through filteration chamber waste
water comes in this chamber for dis-infecting
the waste water.Process of dis-infecting the
waste water is of many type like chlorination,UV
rays filteration,ozone filteration.In this process
micro organisms are killed and then the water is
ready to use for irrigation, drinking and other
purpose
● LAB-
Here the treated water is tested so that the
treated water can be reused for other purposes.
Advantages of sewage treatment
plant
● Prevention of the spread of disease
● Prevention of pollution
● Maintaining rivers and stream in healthy
condition.
