In our present society, democracy plays a major role in our government system. In fact,
almost anyone can run for a position in our government. However, it is also this same system
which has been keeping the government’s performance at a bare minimum. With so much
freedom in our society, even the uneducated are able to grab a position in our country, which
then results to performance and duty becoming almost non-existent for those officials. Therefore,
in order for our government to perform better, only citizens with the relevant credentials should
be able to grab a position in our government as they have the capabilities to lead, are more
capable of understanding the issues in our country, and are able to gain the trust of the public
through diligence.
Today, leadership plays a key role in our society. Almost anyone, even an ordinary
citizen, can make a huge impact if he/she can lead her people and project his/her beliefs
confidently. It is also this which has been noticeably absent in our government system for the
past few years. We only see a few government officials voicing out their opinions and taking
appropriate measures, while some government officials just stay idle and watch as the issues fly
by. Indeed, with proper leadership training being part of the necessary credentials, the
important for government officials as this enables them to formulate their own, proper solutions.
It is this which will truly show if the government official is resourceful enough to solve the
issues of our country. A lack of understanding the issue on the other hand may result in terrible
consequences for the country, with the poor management of the Tanim-Bala scandal being a
good example. If the government manages to acquire citizens with excellent education, surely
these officials will be able to respond to political and economic problems swiftly and properly.
With the absence of these qualities from our government though, most of the citizens of
the country are often frustrated. With so many promises that the government makes and yet still
yielding little results, it isn’t that much of a surprise that citizens are behaving this way. When it
comes to individual performance however, the public tends to favour those who do more in their
work. Hence, a record of diligence in his/her credentials would certainly favour the government
system.
Of course, implementing this new way of acquiring government officials has its
drawbacks. For one thing, the public still isn’t guaranteed that the new government official will
still do his/her job properly even if he/she is educated. Furthermore, educated government
officials can still be influenced by greed and corruption. Not to mention, this new system denies
other citizens to lead as only a select few with the appropriate credentials may opt to run for a

incompetent and lackluster officials, it also denies those with unnecessary credentials from
