Distributed Integrated
Forecasting & planning to accommodate
DER
System System
Platform (DSP) Planning Leveraging DER as solution to network
problems
Technology Description
System‐wide implementation of AMI to provide customer usage by time interval and
AMI, AMI‐OMS
system data, and upgraded billing/back‐end systems, outage/restoration reporting,
Integration, CIS Upgrade service voltage monitoring, behind‐the‐meter communications, etc.
Automate all substation feeder bays, line regulators, capacitors, sectionalizers, tie
Grid Automation switches, sectionalizing switches, and single‐phase reclosers to enable control over
network facilities.
Enhance the Geographic Information System (GIS) grid model to provide DER and
impedance data for planning (CYME) and operations (ADMS) to enable and enhance
GIS Model Enhancement interconnections analysis, hosting capacity analysis, circuit optimization, voltage/var
control, and other functions.
Provide the capability to efficiently analyze and determine the DER hosting capacity, to
accurately forecast load and DER generation, to incorporate distributed generation and
Advanced Planning Tools energy storage into Integrated System Planning, and to communicate system data and
accept interconnection requests.
Expand the energy control system to include distribution state estimator and power flow;
Advanced Distribution volt/var optimization (VVO); and Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration (FLISR).
Management System Subsequently, the DERMS will enable aggregated DER management and control, and the
DER Market Management System will support DER transactions.
Enterprise Analytics Develop a comprehensive Enterprise Analytics Platform to fully leverage the vast
quantities of granular system and customer data that supports our vision for data
Platform management, business intelligence, and advanced analytics.
