A. Introduction
LITTLE HEARTS WITH BIG HOPES, is a program/community immersion conducted
in line with the celebration of Valentine’s Day on February 14 and will showcase the
creativity and interest of the organizers (BBTLED HE 1-1 students) for Child Rights
Awareness. The organizers had seemingly witnessed the bitter sweet of this today’s world
that a love and support for a child were deprived and their hopes for their dreams are
altered with the current society. This program is a simple step to recalibrate the current
issue by the means of celebrating the Love through sharing, serving and shaping the
resources of the organizers. Every child has a small heart that deserves love, appreciation,
protection and care by the people around them ergo their big hopes will be empowered
and valued.
The Day Care Outreach program was held on February 13, 2019 (Wednesday) from
8:00 am to 10:00 am at the Manila Child Development Center Brgy. 634 Zone 64
District 6 Valencia St., Sta. Mesa, Manila through the support and consent of Barangay
Chairman Adoracion P. Andaya, Kagawad Joel G. Capones and Teacher Erlinda R.
Castro together with the supervision our Prof. Francis Nicole B. Tepace. It was
participated by 27 Pre-schoolers with ages 4 to 5 years old. The program was conducted
in line with the celebration of Valentine’s Day on February 14 and to manifest recognition
to their humane life. The event exhibited different medium to cherish the small hearts with
big dreams such as storytelling activities and art making workshops that will symbolize the
importance of love despite of this small number of participants it still served as step
towards change.
Starting the program with a prayer asking for guidance for the whole day led by
Maria Casandra Pabico, children are very participative you can see in them that they are
giving respect to the Almighty by their eyes closed, their heads bowed and reciting
solemnly the prayer. It's a great thing to see them having that kind of attitude at a very
young age. Secondly, after the prayer is singing of the National Anthem to develop to
children their respect and love for country. Next thing we did is we conducted an opening
game to elevate the children's interest, and to catch their attention for kids are kids and
they all love playtime! Playtime is very important part while they're growing up for, they
can develop being friendly with others, being helpful and sense of leadership. After
playing, it's time for some storytelling entitled “The Good Samaritan” to give kids some

lesson that they can acquire and use later on in their life. Now, it's the time which every
kid is waiting for, snack time! We gave them a sandwiches, juices, and biscuits to make
them happier. Everyone is eating well, telling different stories to their seatmates, and
sharing their food to one another. After they ate, we gave them some time to dissolve their
food for the next activity which is making a letter for their love ones with the guidance of
their respective teachers. For the last time, we held a closing game to keep their happiness
with them before we leave. Aside from that, before their parents fetch them, we give some
giveaways that includes coloring books, stickers, handkerchief, colors, which they can use
in their schooling. Lastly, for some remembrance we took a picture with kids.

It's our privileged to be part of the children’s life just for once, to help them, instruct,
and make them happy inside their classroom. To teach them good values and behaviors
towards their fellow ones, as well as for the country and to our creator. It's very fulfilling in
our part to saw the children really enjoying what we did for them, seeing them smile and
laugh is such an amazing feeling. For a very short period, we get to know each other.
Although it is just part of our activity in school, this immersion taught us that it is not just
about the grades, but the feeling and lesson that we could get in this kind of activity.

We thank God for giving us the opportunity to open our minds that children are
very precious and letting us witness their innocence and honesty. Also, our teacher Prof.
Francis Nicole B. Tepace that served as the instrument to make this one possible. To the
children’s advisory teacher Mrs. Erlinda R. Castro, for trusting us to handle her class. To
Kagawad Joel G. Capones and Barangay Chairman Adoracion P. Andaya, for allowing us
to hold this immersion in Manila Child Development Center Brgy. 634. Lastly, to the
facilitator and everyone who helped and participate to create a wonderful event.

ALMOJUELA, KRISTEL M.

The immersion that we conducted last February 14, 2019 at the Day Care School
near the vicinity of is such an amazing experience that I will bring for the rest of my life. I
never imagined even once in my life that I would love kids that much because I am type
of person who doesn’t have a long patience for silly kids, a kid who can’t follow instructions
easily, and a kid who doesn’t know how to listen and when to behave. Everything has
changed the moment I saw different sides of children, I never expected that I will able to
understand a kid who has an improper behavior because usually I get irritated by that. But
to my surprise, by observing and talking to them, I made to understand why they are like
that, and why is they acting different from other kids who is jolly, active, and easy to handle.
That time I've realized that one child is different from another, and each of them grew up
in different environment and parenting styles, that realization made me become more
caring and very supportive and helpful to them. As much as I can whenever I see a child
who is alone and no one approaching them and there is no assistant teacher in their side,
I see to it that I will talk to them and I will make them feel that they are belonged and loved.

One of the student that I saw who misconduct towards her mother, really caught
my attention. The first thing that comes to my mind is what’s the problem with that kid? I
also got emotional cause I remember the time I used to be like that with my mom later did
I realize how painful it is in their part. After my several attempts to soften that child’s heart,
finally he trusted me to become his friend. He also get along with his other classmates,
and he even sing and dance. That time my heart is really happy seeing in the eyes of that
kid the happiness and enjoyment to what he is doing.

In general, out of all these lessons that I've learned there is a one major lesson
that I have gained and that is “ What we instill in children will be the foundation upon which
they build their future” and the teachers are the one of the components to mold the
character of the children. They are responsible to be a role model at all times for children
are great imitator. They should be I’m partner with the parents as well as to the community.
As a future educator, I will see to it that I will practice the code of ethics for professional
teaching and be an efficient teacher for the future citizens is in my hands.

ANTIPORDA, ERROL L.

They say that being a child is the most happiest time in your life because you don't
need to think about any of your problems you just play and play and play everyday. You
don't think about what will happen tomorrow you will just think about what you want to do
today. It's fun to be a kid again no worries no problem just fun .

We conducted an immersion on a Daycare school near our school where we

teach students to write letters to their mother or to their teacher. Each of us needs to assist
one child and the child that I assisted is Kleid, a quiet child who doesn't want to play with
others he just want to sleep or just sit in his chair so it gave me a hard time talking to him
because he didn't want to speak or tell me anything because I think he is being shy or has
a problem with others. Then I remembered when I was in kindergarten I was also like that
kid I have no friends no one to talk to I just sit in the corner and sleep I don't want to
cooperate to any activities and I just want to go home always. So when I talk to Kleid I
encourage him to participate in games like in BRING ME, he participate sometimes but
sometimes he just want to sit in his chair. But after sometime he change and started talking
and talking and having a smile in his face and that makes me happy because I can see
the child that that he's being comfortable with me and sees me as his friend. Then we
created a letter for her parents, some kindergarten don't know how to write so we guided
them in writing what they will want to write in the letter, Kleid wants to write a letter to his
mother father and brother. I noticed that Kleid loves to draw I let him draw in the letter and
I saw he is enjoying it. When we were done I told him that he should give it to his parents

and tell them that he loves them. When it's time to go home we gave our presents to the
kids and it makes them happy because kids like gifts and stuff . I think this experience is
good for us because it gave us some experience on what we will experience on being a
teacher someday and how we will handle kids . It is fun to teach kids because you can
see in them that they are truly happy and wants to know more about stuff . It also relieves
us from our stress from our college life because it's like we just enjoy that time playing with
kids and doing creative stuff.

It is fun helping others and it is fun playing with kids. To the kids that we have
taught I wish that they grow up as a smart child and pursue their dreams while enjoying
life because it is important to enjoy life while doing something. And this is my reflection on
our immersion.

ARENIAL, RHEA CAMILLE P.

Community Immersion is an activity of being with people in the community. The
final requirement in CWTS is to conduct a community immersion near the PUP Campus.
Our section chose to make a program in Day care school in the barangay. A day been
passed, we started to contribute money for conducting that immersion. With that, we are
so excited to be with the pre-schoolers and expect them as "makukulit".
The president assigned everyone in their respective duties in community
immersion. There are responsible to plan the program, marketing financial, food
committee and the committee in assisting the pre-schoolers. I assigned to be one of the
marketing financial, in the day before the event, we go to divisoria to buy all the needed
materials such as foods and give always to the child. And we took an hours because it is
not easy to get what's in our list and we really need to look around anywhere. Later on,
we need to go back in PUP again to ask for the help of the committee to arrange the give
aways such as coloring books, alphabet books, color and small towel. And we still not
finish in buying foods so that we need to go in puregold after. At last, we're done. Ready
for tomorrow's community immersion.
February 13, 2019. This is the day. We are wearing red and pink color shirt for
representing love since tomorrow is a Valentine’s Day. Thus, we need to make this happy
and unforgettable for the kids. The programs begin and lead by Ms. Jell Cordoto and Mr.
Ian Banguirigan served as the Teacher. It seems that the children are excited to have
bond with us because of their way in making a response to the teacher. Proceed to the
story telling by Ms. Ruth Jumawan while they ate enjoying the story we use that time to
arrange the foods or snack time for the kids. There's a wafer, yakult and bread. The kids
seems so hungry and now they are eating their foods that we given to them. Afterwards,
teachers teach the pre-schoolers to make a card for their parents because of the Valentine
’s Day tomorrow. All of us must involve there and need to assist each of the kids. I assist
Aldrin, a child who is silent and not interacting with his classmate but still able to do the
task, according to my observation. I helped him to do the card by the use of stickers for
designs, pencil for giving a tracing line to the kid on what he will going to write and he use
color to trace it in forming words as "Happy Valentines Day. I love you mommy and daddy.
“He successfully made a beautiful and own valentines card for his parents. I thought his
parents will be happy and appreciated if he gives it to his parents.

Next, picture taking together with the pre-schooler, our teacher in CWTS and the
real teacher of the kids. And lastly, proceed to the give-aways. Everyone are happy while
accepting their give aways and we thought that it will be a great help for them to use it in
their schooling and lives.
We can say "Mission success!" because we are already done in one subject. For
me, unity is very essential. Once you have unity in your section, then everything will be
goes to success! We are so thankful because we give happiness to the kids and within
ourselves because we are already done in this CWTS final requirement. To Sir Francis,
for the opportunity to be with other people in the community, to our parents for the financial.
To the barangay and Day care school, for giving us chance to conduct a community
immersion there and most significantly, Thank you Lord because you give us all strength
in making this community immersion become success.

BANGUIRIGAN, IAN

It was a good day indeed, I do believe that I have a stigma to children in terms of
whenever they approach me. In my experience whenever I say ‘hi’ to a child he tend to
hide or move away from me. I really don’t know why, this community immersion made my
stigma to kids lessen. Its better to see children smile because they smile so genuinely like
they do not experience hardships in life or such problems in society. They always see life
as positive as possible and try to enjoy what they are now.

Being one of the Master of the Ceremony on that day was quite challenging
because as a teacher and learning the basic education of Child And Adolescent And
Learning Principle; in which we learn the nature of the preschoolers. That they are very
energetic, wholesome, and play is their active life. Jelly and I tried to mix somethings
throughout the whole program. Maximizing our time and using our effort, its very relaxing
to see those children happy and feel loved as they were doing their valentine cards.

This experience is a sure thing to treasure, exhaustion to those children

aggressiveness isn’t going to be a problem at all as long as everyone is enjoying what
they are doing and their teacher is seeing improvements on them. I thank our Instructor,
Mr. Francis Tepace for allowing us to enjoy the event and he was their all throughout the
whole activity guiding us and supporting us.

BINBING, JANINE S.
It is said that one of the joyous part of life is being a child. No hassles, It as is if
their only problem for everyday is how they will win in a game, how they will get a lot of
stars in school and worrying if their parents will buy them a jumbo pencil or a stroller bag
with their favorite cartoon character imprinted on it. No doubt, the life a child although it is
silly as they become problematic in small non-sense things, but these actions can open a
hidden door, can reach big dreams. These thoughts regained to my mind because of the
community immersion that I remember that I ones become a child.
As part of our final requirement for Civic Welfare Training Service (CWTS), our
section conducted a day care outreach program at Manila Child Development Center
wherein we are the one who facilitate and become the teachers for just one day. I was
assigned as one of the program committee. My exposure to the children at the day care
made me realize two (2) things I will never forget. The first one is although I never imagined
myself to become a teacher, the way I managed to attend every child in the day care, the
way I response to their request, the course of action I made just to make them to listen
the assigned teacher-in-charge on that day and when they followed me, I felt the authority
of mine and when they approach me in order to guide them in their activity, then I realized
that I am a capable and reliable just like the character of being a teacher.

My interaction to the children at day care school made me realize that I can be a teacher
despite of my confusion of what profession I want to be someday. The second one is the
thought that I once become a child everytime I remember in the midst of my busy and
hectic schedule and adulting period. This was the time where I appreciate my childhood
that I once seated on a small armchair listening to my teacher while waiting for the bell to
rang. That my only problem is how my mother will not caught me in pretending to sleep in

20
LITTLE HEARTS WITH BIG HOPES | Narrative Report
PUP NSTP-CWTS | BBTLED HE 1-1 A.Y. 2018-2019

the afternoon and the freedom to run and play without any consideration just to feel my
satisfaction and pleasure. All of these are not applicable anymore since my childhood is
now concluded and I am facing a new chapter in my life. But, that childhood became my
foundation in facing that new chapter. The time I spend in listening and my patience just
to wait the break time made me today to have the virtue of patience in waiting for good
things to happened and when I was scolded because my mother caught me on pretending
to sleep, taught me that lying is not good and no matter what you do just to hide it, will
eventually reveal no matter what happens and during the times I was tripped on the ground
while playing, cried but still managed to stand up made me stronger as of now if I fail, I
can managed to move on, stand and face again the challenged of life. The childhood
taught me on how to become a good adult as of now.

In conclusion, at the end of the day, the day care outreach program became not
only a community immersion, a requirement that our section need to complete just to pass
the subject, but an eye opener to all of us that once upon a time we became little and as
time goes by, because of the experiences we continuously experiencing made us grow
day by day and later on, that little ones will grow and that little hearts will reach big dreams
in their lives.

CAPONES, MA. ERIKA N

So base on what have i experienced during our community immersion at the

barangays day care center, i really do love kids but i wasn't in the mood to join my
classmates doing the program inside the daycare center, because i had a stomach cramps
right at the moment.

That was the first community out reach program that i've done and i really enjoyed and
learned a lot. As a future educator, i learned more about on how do you communicate,
treat and to get along with the kids with the age of 4-5 years old you need to have a long
temper when you were together with the kids, because kids with that age are so
"maligalig".

Actually i also enjoyed and learned not only in the kids in the day care center but i also
learned things from my classmates "team work". In terms of planning, preparing and
participation of everyone of us speacially the leaders/officers they were the one who lead
us to make the community out reach program success.

CORDOTO, JELLY E.
Every smile, every little laugh ponder everyone's heart in which we really enjoyed
the outreach program with the day care students. Their innocence and little behaviors let
us reminisce our childhood years where in sharing, asking questions and active
participation on any activities such as dancing, nursery rhymes, designing cards and
participating with the teachers. When we saw their appreciation on our every effort we
really felt that all those preparations are worth it. From the first step of organization we
already connect our hearts on our mission--hope empowerment with the little hearts of the
kids.

Children are great imitators so we give them something great to imitate. Before
the program start we are able to interact with the students together with their parents. It
helps us to have a schema about their response while we are projecting the activities. As
we go on, I observed taht just like us way back on our childhood, I can say that there are
different type of students inside that room. There are active, talkative, shy type and passive
respondents. Every assigned facilitator are very willing to enhance the confidence of the
children to interact and participate in the activity. Every child shown their willingness to
cooperate with us and very thankful of the blessings we've prepared for them. Just like the
question the teacher asked about the Filipino word of "green" which is mostly known it as
“berde” while “luntian” is more acceptable. In order to effectively and efficiently connect
with the children is to act and behave within the level of their performance. We treat them
as comfortable as possible to easily gain their trust such as assisting them, teaching them
and make a conversation with them. We also laugh with ourselves doing the things for the
sake of the children's happiness such as dancing with them, singing and playing yet still
we also enjoyed the outreach program. Every child is gifted they just unwrap their
packages at different times as the saying goes. This program also taught children to show
their love for their parents and teachers not just every valentine’s day but as possible as
everyday. Every little gifts are appreciated and it is not about on how expensive it is but
it’s about the thought that you remember that person. Spread the love with everyone.

On that event, the little room filled with love and happiness together with the
children and the future teachers. The program helps everyone to reduce stress from
academic demands and let us experience again on how to be an ordinary child of
yesterday. It is a mutual benefit between us which is we help them to enhance their

personalities while we also learned the basic things in life that sometimes we cannot deny
the fact that we forget
cause we focused our goals
in this lifetime. We should
always remember that a
child’s life is like a piece of
paper on which every
person leaves a mark.

This picture will remind me

that I’ve experienced such
wonderful day with the little kids.

CRETA, ALMAR JANE Q.

The program that we organized was a great experience to all of us specially

that we are future teacher’s someday. It was so happy that we did this kind of activities
there’s a lot of learning and knowledge that I have learned on how to handle a student and
not only the students but also to the all of us who are the one who did this program before
we proceed to this kind of activity, I see the teamwork of our section. We build this kind
of relationship so as the result it was good and I see the willingness of everyone to do on
what they’re role to the program. I’m so happy that as time goes by our sections was
growing and building a good relationship to everyone because this kind of program was
so difficult to organized if we are not participate. For example, to preparing the letter’s,
give away, foods, financial and etc. we do are best to finish this program and all of us is
participate. It was so tired for being a teacher I experience it in that day it has a little time
that we do teaching but I must say that it was difficult to handle the students. But even if
its so tiring if you see the smile of the students it was so good to feel that I feel the
satisfaction that for all we did was have a good result. They were so good to look at
specially when they are enjoying the program, they were so responsive to the activities
that we do it was so warm to the heart that even if we are students also, we have the skills
to be good one teacher someday.

In the program I learned that we need to love our profession someday

because that is the only way to enjoying your work even if its so hard to handle a student
who has a different personality and I see that there is a student who are happy on what
they doing but there was also a student who was learned by being naughty and a student
was silent but smart even if there shy to communicate with us and a student was so scared
to not see their mother a student was not like to learned just to be sit with there chairs. I

25
LITTLE HEARTS WITH BIG HOPES | Narrative Report
PUP NSTP-CWTS | BBTLED HE 1-1 A.Y. 2018-2019

realize that this profession is very important to love with because if you don’t love your
doing you will not be able to teach your student and some students, they need the love of
others specially the teachers because sometimes there a student have a family problem
so that is the only way that a teacher needs to feel to students the love, care. Importance
like there family because the school was there second family. The program was very
importance for us because I realize that as a future teacher I will on what are the things
that I’m going to do because we have an experience and I’m motivated to pursue this
course because there is a lot of students wants to learn we are the one as a first year
graduate of senior high so we have the responsibilities to be mold a students someday so
they can choose on what career they want.

I’m happy on the program that I never expect that I will enjoy it because in my
mind the students like there age was so wild and naughty but later on I was so amazed at
there young age was full of honesty, pureness, smart, kind, lovable, caring students and
to the most I appreciate was the teamwork that we did because not only us was participate
but also the students they accept on what we did and they so active at that time as long
us there teacher we as a human we need to remain to be socialize with each other and
specially to have a good manners to everyone and respects despite of our different
personalities.

CRISOSTOMO, RONAVY Q.

We experienced to be teacher in two hours. I can say that being teacher in

preschoolers is not easy because in 4 to 5 years old. The children is so naughty and so
noisy at the same time. Even though they are so naught you will hold your patience and
will sighs any time but experienced to being teacher in preschoolers is so genuine happy.
They’re always smile and laughs that’s why you will laughs just like them. I learned that
when you are teaching in preschoolers you will hold for so long your patience and be
yourself. Do not shout and do not hurt them because we all know that is wrong. Being
naughty and so noisy in preschoolers is natural. When they are hurting someone just say
that “don’t do that because it’s bad and wrong at the same time. Do you want he/she do
that to you? Just don’t do that again”. Sometimes they will listen to you but most of the
time they don’t care what you said because they just want to play with everyone. We all
experienced to being preschoolers that’s why we’re understanding they being so naught.
Don’t forget that preschoolers should not to be threatened because they think themselves
as being bad, dumb or even worthless. Preschoolers should be happy years.

DE CHAVEZ, JONAH P.

In my experience with the activity we had, I have learned a lot of things. It was also
fun socializing and teaching kids in preschool. At first, as I can see, they were all shy for
they don’t know whom they are with, but from time to time they already got used to us. We
told them some story that is also based in the bible and it was fun because when we tried
asking them questions about the story, they were also quick in response. As I can see,
when we also give them stars as a reward for their responses when we ask questions,
they were so happy. They were also motivated to answer because of they want to have a
lot of stars in their hands. The stars that we gave them symbolizes the price given to them
because of they were very good in answering. After the story telling, we come up with a
game for them to play, the bring me game. It was fun because everyone is active and is
cooperating well. Though, not everyone was given the chance to win, I can see that they
were still happy and they were still having fun. When we ask them for things to bring,
everyone was really trying their best to find the thing they were asked to. I was really
happing seeing those happy smiles in their faces.

The next thing we did was we asked them to make a letter for someone because
it is Valentine’s day. I asked some of the kids to whom they were going to give the letters
with. Most of them responded that they were going to give it to their parents. I also asked
one boy and he answered me that he is going to bring the letter in Batangas. When I asked
him why he wanted to bring the letter in Batangas, he told me because it was fun their and
he have a lot of toys there. He didn’t answer if he is really living in Batangas but I guess
he lives there. In the letter that they are going to make, we gave them colored paper so
that they would write what they want to convey there. We also gave them stickers, mostly
in heart shapes one to be used as the designs to the letters that they are making. One of
the children was happy because of the stickers and she told me that it was her favorite
shape. Because they were just in the age of around 4-6 years old, they don’t know much
about writing letters so we just made dotted lines as a guide to the letters they want to
write. I was happy because every one of them where cooperating and is really persuaded
in writing the letter. We also asked them to draw something inside the letters. After being
done with the love letters that they were about to give to their love ones, we also gave
them flowers so that when they give the letter, they will also give the flowers with it.

Seeing those happy faces in the kids was somehow relieving because we knew
that we made them happy. When we also gave them foods to it, some of them kept the
food because they want to give it to their siblings and parents. After they were fetched by
their parents and

Entering to the kindergarten room I experienced last February 13, 2019 I had to
quickly become familiar with kindergarten content standards and the school’s curriculum
because I have a nephew, I was their when he need help to their assignment or what
teacher say about their project. I became comfortable to the children.

Handling twenty-seven children in one room is so challenging to us because we

know that children have different personalities. When I enter their room I see all the
children. They all standing and talking with each other. I'm thinking that If I became their
teacher, I will be happy because I know someday I'll be the one who facilitate to these
children. When program goes by, I saw all the children running, standing, talking and busy
to listen in the story telling lead by Ruth Jumawan. They are a very talkative and are in
constant competition to share their ideas and to have their turn to participate. I salute all
the kindergarten teacher because Kindergarten teachers have a lot of the same
responsibilities of other teachers but also have to take into account that many of their
students will be experiencing school for the first time. They must teach students basic
skills in reading and writing in addition to showing them how to behave in the classroom
and play nicely with others. Being one of the facilitator mixed emotion I can apply to those
children because of how their action. I quickly understand being a child way back on my
schooling I remember that day I want my mom by my side. I'm crying when my mom leaves
me in school and I see that one child and his mom by his side and he is crying. The
children wandering why have so many people in their room reading storytelling and giving
food to them.

I therefore, conclude that program it is not easy to deal with the twenty-seven
children. When the program did we are very happy because our sleepless nights is now
paid off.

GADIAN, HANNAH MAY A.

“All thy children shall be taught of the Lord; and great shall be the peace of thy
children” (3 Nephi 22:13).Throwing outreach programs for children is always a great
experience but leaving a long- lasting mark in their hearts is better.

February 13, 2019. As I woke up earlier than my usual mornings, I was quite
bothered because I got the feeling that I forgot about something. And just as I was getting
out of bed, I remembered what I was forgetting. Oh snap! I mentally slapped myself after
realizing that our class have this immersion for Civic Welfare Training Services. Oops.
Sorry.

So, I hurried myself preparing to get to the location as soon as possible.

Expectedly, I was quite late. But nevertheless, I was able to be there just before the
program start. It was a small community along one of the busy streets in Manila. And the
kids that our class prepared for this outreach program were just few. So, as expected, the
place serving as their classroom was just enough for those little children. As facilitators
and organizers, we had to squeeze ourselves inside. It was a little difficult to move, at first.
But as the program went by and the activities for the children were administered one at a
time, we were already moving comfortably.

Each of us picked a child to assist through out the activities. I chose the closest kid
to me. His name was Michael. And what got me interested with him was his thugish ear
piercing. Boy, that kid was just roughly 5 years old and got a piercing. I'm sure it was
inappropriate for him to have that. But, sorry, I think he just pulled it of and rocked the look
and I thought it was quite cool. Despite his appearance, that kid has something in him. He
was charming and he shows respect even though he moves a round a lot and was so
talkative that time. He didn't fail using 'po' and 'opo' while talking to me. He politely asks
for help and questions. He was the highlight of my experience there.

All in all, the kids enjoyed the activities, although, some are stubborn and didn't
follow the instructions. Everything went smoothly. We are thankful for their adviser and
also ours for letting us have this kind of experience with the children. It was so nice to be
able to figuratively touch those kids by spending fun time with them. I am very much
interested in having this activity sometime in the future.

JUMAWAN, OBEDIENT RUTH E.

“Childhood is a world of miracle and wonder: as if creation rose, bathed in light,

out of darkness, utterly new, fresh and astonishing” an anonymous person said. Kids at
daycare reminds me of my childhood. They were so carefree and playful, and seeing
those kids enjoying our little activities and gifts makes all the struggles worth it. As an
education student I have seen their differences. There are kids that are intractable, there
are kids that are shy to even talk and tell their names, there are kids who wants to stay
with their parents, and there are also kids whom like to play with other students and my
fellow students, but I have seen that my fellow students enjoyed playing and assisting the
kids. And I have also seen their generosity either to us or to their classmates.

I have observed that the kids are hesitant at first, but when they started to get to
know us they could not even stop getting along with us. The program has been laid
successfully kids participated in every activities we yield that makes it easier for us to
make a good relation and impression to them. In story telling they were so attentive, and
they listen very carefully and answers every questions that are asked to them. I have
seen the eagerness in them to win a game which is a good sign that they really seem
enjoying and it’s also a good motivation for us to keep up the good work. We all really
had a great time, especially while making valentine card for their loved ones. We manage
to bring the creativity out of them. We have seen their love for their parents and their
teacher, especially to their family, because some of them wants to share their food to their
siblings at home. Just by being with the kids and being able to play with them, it makes
me feel child again and it reminds me to enjoy everything, whether it’s a negative or
positive thing, because I did not see any worry to their faces when I was with them. Just
like what Satyarthi said “Childhood means simplicity. Look at the world with child’s eyes
– it is very beautiful”

“Early childhood education is the key to the betterment of society” Maria

Montessori said. It has been a pleasure to give a simple gifts to the kids, that can help
them learn more and explore more and create more, and to the daycare itself. It has been
an honor to serve the daycare even for a day, to help handle the kids and experience a
wonderful moment and make a little memories with them. And it has been a great privilege
to meet all the students of the daycare and get to know them, and to also meet their
teacher and the officials of barangay that are very dedicated to teach the children and

provide the things they need. It feels so good that we have seen something that makes
us look back and reminisce for our childhood memories. It’s a great reminder that I once
was one of those child and I enjoyed reminiscing with my inner childhood dreams.

LAHER, ANGELO GARRET V.

Celebrating valentine’s day with these kids last February 13 was colorful. Each one
of them have different shades of character and unique color wheel of life that also
resembled to our personality as a being. Sharing our passion and ample time with them
allows us to value their dreams and upholding their humane life. This event has created a
sincere lively hue to our hearts and journey.

It is indeed an honor to be one of the head organizers of this celebration. Every

detail and activity of the event is on point not only to equipt but to raise consciousness to
our advocacy. We delivered an enticed and a well-prepared event in order to immerse
ourselves to our established objective and mission. Everyone is assigned to facilitate 1 to
3 children during the event which brought us colorful memories and learning. Among the
27 preschoolers I never thought that I’ll be able to establish a bond between these kids;
Matt, Urie and Nica (my “alagas”) in a short span. A bond that I truly enjoyed and allowed
me to reflect on how it is important to support and believe in these kids. They taught
invisibly how to love without conditions and to dream without limits. It was also a short
flashback for me during my pre-school years and reminiscing the beauty of playing all day
and living the world without responsibilities. Our gang was truly delighted to our event. I
hope these kids would still remember me even we’ve met in a short time.

These young children served as an inspiration and advocation to support and

stand for their rights and freedom. These kids remind us that they may have small hearts
with big hopes that will surely burst colors to the horizons. At the end of the rainbow, our
smiles evidently show the spectrum of my future profession.

LUNA, JENNYLEY R.

On February 13, 2019, we conducted our

community immersion wherein it exposed as to the
field of preschoolers that strengthens our patience
and enhanced our skills that we need in order to
become an effective educator in the future. In our
immersion we know how to associate with different
kinds of children that ranges 4-5 yrs. old. Some
children is shy, behave, talkative and some
children is naughty but I'm glad that I know this kids because they are very sweet. I admire
those children because they accommodate us to their new learning that they can catch
during our immersion.

Our immersion experience helps us a lot as prospective

teacher because it strengthens our communication skill. It is fun
to conduct this immersion or conduct small event to children even
if we are the one who conducted this immersion we feel that we
also a children or a preschoolers children again. We learned that
interacting with other children in small group or encouraged them
to such activities like we encourage them to make a letter to their
parent or to their teacher, children shows creativity in doing g the
task. This immersion that we conduct provides situations for
children to extend their knowledge, thinking and skills through
input form their peers.

Overall, conducting a community immersion is one of the

activities which a students taking education must undertake that is why I learned so much
lesson after our immersion like become a patience person, how to communicate with
children effectively. And it’s very nice experience to have a immersion like this.

MUGAS, ADAMSON E.

Teachers have the very important responsibility of shaping the lives of young,
impressionable children. With this responsibility comes great pride and joy. Therefore all
teachers should strive for what can be considered to be a "good teacher." A good teacher
can be defined as someone who always pushes students to want to do their best while at
the same time trying to make learning interesting as well as creative.

Not every child learns the same way, nor are they interested in the same things. It
is difficult to keep the attention of 15-20 children under the age of 4-5. Classroom setup
and design is a good way to get and keep the attention of students. Workstations are a
good way to encourage different types of learning. By allowing children a chance to
choose which activities they want to participate in, children are taking control of their own
education.

Teachers, sometimes award their students for their great works however
sometimes punish them to let them understand that they did something wrong which is
bad for their life. They make their students able to differentiate between right or wrong so
that they can chose for right one in their life by fighting with wrong. Teachers understand
that all students do not have same capacity to learn in the same way so they try to let them
understand in their own way.

Lastly, I hope that we are able to make those children happy with our activities that
we conducted. Also, I hope that they learned not only mentally, but also physically,
emotionally. And as the title said, I can say that those children have a Little Hearts but with
Big Hopes!

OCDE, JOANNA JANE M.

Last February 13, 2019, we, Bachelor of Business Technology and Livelihood
Education Major in Home Economics, conducted our community immersion at Manila
Child Development Center Brgy. 634 Zone 64 District 6 Valencia St., Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Our immersion started at 8 o'clock in the morning the same as the time of the class of the
kindergarten. Thus our immersion was conducted during their classes.

As a preparation, the day before our immersion, we organize the different

giveaways and foods, and also the emcee's practiced the flow of the program. While on
the day of the program, we gather at 7AM, ensuring all the necessary matters is present.

During the program, me, and my classmates have different roles. Their is assigned
to be the facilitator, some are assigned in food and loot committee, and I was assigned in
documentation wherein, I video the various highlights of the actual program. For the
meantime, the children are so active in participating to different activities. I perceive that
they have different level of jolliness. Despite of that, me as an individual, I enjoy the
program because it gives me joy to see smile from the different faces of the children. I
also realized further that sharing is caring because it is a priceless goodwill and act we
can give as a student of PUP

PABICO, MA. CHRISTINA CASANDRA C.

The classroom set-up, those shapes and numbers on the walls, those little chairs,
the prayers, songs, dances, how the teacher approach
her students, the parents and guardians waiting
outside the classroom, those crying students who do
not want to be apart from their parents, the stamp of
stars, the food and all; all these things brought me back
to my childhood days.

One of our courses, The Child and

Adolescent Learner and Learning Principles,
helps me to understand children's behavior and
learn the appropriate approach to them. Aside
from the fact that I once was a child, that certain
course taught me why children act the way they
do. Their innocence about how the world works,
their curiosity to try new things and how those matters astonish them.

I admit that I don't have lots of patience when it comes to children because I hate
asking on the same things over and over. I don't want too loud people. I don't want children
who are too much naughty. But that immersion gave me an opportunity to apply the lesson
our professor taught us. It reminded me that I will become a teacher soon, though I prefer
high school students, but the thought of being a teacher. That we should answer students'
whys and hows in all the knowledge and best we can. Help them understand the world
and how they should respond in every situation.

Moreover, the immersion helps me to get closer

to my classmates. To have a bond with them outside the
four walls of the classroom. It gave me time to let them
know me, through and by the preparation until the
actual moment when we needed to actuate the plan.

It was indeed one of my memorable days. To be

with my classmates and those lovely kids, seeing them
doing their tasks with their innocent and charmful smiles.

AGOSTO, RONALDO JR. C.

As part of the project in CWTS 2, the BBTLED-HE together with the BBTE-ITE 4-
2N conducted a community immersion. We conducted the program at the daycare center
together with the kid’s ages below 6. The teacher at the daycare center assisted us as we
conduct the program. Because kids are the audience in the program, we prepare some
activities that kids can follow like storytelling, dancing, and also they create a valentine
letters for their parents assisted by the facilitators. With the help of the teacher at the
daycare, we finish the program in an excellent way. Before we end the activity, we gave
snacks to the kids and also gifts for them to be able to use like coloring book, colors,
notebooks and even handkerchief.

You will see the happiness and emotions of every kid as they received the gifts
that we gave. It is not easy to take care or handle a child but it is a good experience to be
with them. Making them happy is a key to build a good relationship with them.

CORTEZ, MARK RENZO

Our community immersion took place in a barangay near in Earist College. We

have a program that are held in nursery school inside the barangay. That we the students
and that children did have fun a lot while learning different things. At the start, the children
seem to be excited about what are we going to do. At first we have a doxology and almost
of the children are participated during that time. And after that we have given the children
games to boost their participation and most of all that they will have an energetic mood
throughout the whole program. After that we have discussed a story that all of the children
are listening as the story goes the reader are asking questions that is related to the story
that they are giving star stamps that will make the children token that they answered and
also giving other children courage to answer. And the last thing we did is to write their
own love letter to their mother and father for the coming Valentine’s Day that almost of
them are happily doing their letter and with the aid of the students. And overall of that the
program was successful because we make the children learn and most importantly they
are happy learning new things that we prepared for them.

BALITON, CHRISTIAN NICOLE

Our community immersion went well. It was a good experience to join the kids in their
learning in the school. Making the kids happy and having fun while they are learning in their
school. I am a facilitator in which I handle kids while the program is being held. I help the kids
to focus and answer the questions the teachers are giving. First thing we do we pray and sing
the national anthem after that we have a story telling about a good Samaritan. It is a story that
makes the children realize that as a people they should help others with all of their heart and
without conditions. They are very participative when the teachers are asking questions about
the story. For example the names of the characters of the story and the events that happened.
Next thing we do we have a little exercise through dancing. They enjoy dancing to the song
“tatlong bibe” and Baby shark. It was nice to see them see enjoying this kind of things instead
of playing cellphones or computers. Since they are pre-schools we can’t expect them to
behave like middle schoolers. As a facilitator I see it hard to make them behave. But still they
are fun to talk to and play to. Next thing they do their teacher play the song “I have a dream”
where the students have interpretative dance. We also play bring me and give the student who
first gave the thing which the teachers are looking for. They actively participate in that activity.
The students love getting stars and proud of showing their classmates how many stars they
already have. Next it’s time for snacks so we gave each of the students foods (biscuits, wafers,
and juice) since they are tired of dancing and doing other stuffs. While they are eating we just
talk and play with them. After eating, since it is valentines we are going to make valentines
card with our students for their mommy and daddy. The teachers give them red colored paper
and a bond paper for the card. We the facilitators help them in cutting and pasting the hearts
and other designs the students suggest for their card. We also let them pick sticker hearts for
their cards. We also guide them what they want to write for their mommy and daddy. Since
they already know how to write we just make a trace of the words and they trace it. After
making the cards its already time to go home. We gave each of the students coloring books,
coloring materials, reading books, and towels. We also gave their teacher some stuff. And
after that we just take some pictures with their teacher and some of the students. It was a fun
and well spent day for me and as a future teachers it was an experience that we could use in
our job. There I see the nature of pre-school students how they behave and act. And how the
teachers discipline their student. And how they could catch the student’s attention and how
the students could actively participate in their activities.
