Aurora Borealis

Did you ever wonder what is that beautiful light in the sky. At the polar regions you can see the Aurora Borealis they are a

great display in the night sky. The Aurora Borealis are nature's natural laser show .You can see them during a certain month, place,

and time. The lights are made in the Atmosphere. And there are many beliefs about the Aurora.

The Aurora lights are formed in the Thermosphere. "The particles collide with gases in the upper atmosphere and create

ribbons of color that move like ghostly dancers on a dark stage" (Northern light color the sky, p. 7). This looks like lasers in the sky.

Also the colors come from the particles in gases. Depending on the particles will determine the color of the aurora. When the chemical

react with the gases "they return to their normal state, they release photons, small bursts of energy that give off light " (What are the

aurora?,p. 3)". This make the light visible to humans and animals.

The Aurora Borealis "occurs about 60 to 180 miles above the planet's surface (Northern light color the sky p. 8). This

phenomenon happens in the Thermosphere. The best places to see it are near the North and South Poles. But if you really want to see
it with your own eyes and clear. " The best places to see the Aurora are in Alaska, Canada, and Scandinavia (What are the aurora? P.

9). These areas are the most beautiful sight to see the Aurora Borealis.

You can see the Aurora Borealis September through March. The best time to see the Aurora Borealis is the the start of it and the end.

The Aurora Borealis you can even see them in space. Astronauts look at earth and see the most beautiful sight. "Telescopes have

captured images of amazing Auroras on Jupiter and Saturn" (What are the aurora?, p. 12). This beautiful sight is happening on other

planets as well. If the planets have similar structures then without a doubt there will be a Aurora.

In conclusion, the the Aurora can be a beautiful sight. They are seen on other planets. The auroras have been around forever

but they were discovered in 1592 by astronomer. The Auroras have created legends and beliefs ​ from the Inuits to the "Norse" Ms.
