Name: Hyerin

Scenario: You have been hired as a PRODUCT DEVELOPER by a company that is trying to create a means of
cheaply and efficiently filtering fine air particles. Your company is in Chiang Mai so you will work using local
materials.

Understanding how systems interact can inspire the creation of solutions to the consequences of local and global environmental issues.

Task Description
GOAL To create an air filtration device which is suited to the needs of your intended clients.

ROLE You will be the product researcher, designer, builder, and tester. You will also be the expert on human physiology and the
principles of physics inherent to air filtration.

AUDIENCE Your clients are members of the APIS community.

SITUATION You are in the first few weeks of a new job as a PRODUCT DEVELOPER.

PRODUCT 1. A completed and functional Air Filtration Device

2. An assessment of your Scientific Knowledge
3. Your Product Development Journal
4. A pitch to the APIS community promoting your product

STANDARDS You will be assessed against MYP Design Criteria A - D, MYP Science Criteria A + D, and MYP IDU Criteria A - D.

So basically this product will be effectively work. Because I put the filter paper at the front of the box to filter the air before air goes out of the
product. And I put one more filter paper in front of fan to filter air once again. The reason for me to make holes to put filter paper is it will be easier
for my client to clean the product while she is using it.

This is nice documentation of the product development process. An
area to improve would be to more frequently note the changes youve
made to your design. 6 6 4
Date: Feb/20
Step-by-Step Description:
● Prepare 12v 120mm fan and dc 12v adapter.
● Cut the rubber part out from the fan which are positive and
negative side.
● Also cut the front part of adapter and cut rubber out. Then we
can see wires which are positive and negative.
● Twist the wire with negative side together and positive side
together.
Step-by-Step Description:
● Draw a shape for put filter material in.
● Cut it out.

Description of changes made to the Design or Plan: same as my plan. Justification for making these changes: Nothing changed.
Date: Feb/22
Step-by-Step Description:
● Tape the part where I connected fan and adaptor with rubber
tape. For protect electric accident.
Step-by-Step Description:
● Tape the side parts because when I cut the middle part of the
box, side places are too weak.

Description of changes made to the Design or Plan: tape side parts. Justification for making these changes: it’s too weak, I couldn’t think of
that case.

Date: Feb/26
Step-by-Step Description:
● Prepare filter material. For me, I am using kitchen paper towel
because on my Science experiment I got the best filtration
material between any other materials.
Step-by-Step Description:
● Cut kitchen paper towel to fit on my box hole and stick it inside.
Step-by-Step Description:
● I cut the top part of box for fan and we made the fan line out
because it’s better to have line outside.

Description of changes made to the Design or Plan: tape filter material Justification for making these changes: Box was too weak to cut as 3
inside. parts so I just decide to stick it inside.
