Lunchbox raffle prizes!

We have been really pleased to see a change in the type and amount of
foods the children are having in their lunchboxes. There have been a
number of children who have already won raffle tickets for having a
healthy lunch and some who have won sports prizes in our weekly draw.

We will continue with the raffle and have been including the children
who have a school lunch and choose to eat the healthy foods for the
focus of the fortnight.

WEEKS 2 and 3:
During the next two weeks, your class teacher will be looking to see
if you have included meat, fish or alternatives such as eggs, beans
and pulses in your lunch box (please see the eat well plate and ideas
below).

The foods we have been focusing on are one of the four main food
sections from the ‘Eat Well Plate’:
1 – Bread, pasta, bread sticks, crackers, potatoes.
2 – Fruit and Vegetables.
3 – Meat, fish and alternatives.
4 – Dairy
5 – Healthy Snacks
On a random day per week the teachers will stop lessons 10 mins before
lunch and THOSE CHILDREN WHO WANT TO PARTICIPATE show the
contents of their lunchbox. The teacher checks that it contains the
focus food for that week and then gives the successful children a
raffle ticket.

Once a fortnight we have a raffle with non-food items as prizes.

This carries on until all four focus areas have been covered. In the 5th
week we check for a complete healthy lunchbox.

SCHOOL MEALS: On the same random day, any child who eats the same
focus food area from their school meal also gets a raffle ticket.
