Christianity and Islam are both called Abrahamic Religions because they both revere

Abraham and certain other patriarchs mentioned in the Bible as their spiritual ancestors. They
are also considered as world’s largest religions because according to a New Pew Research
Center demographic analysis, Christians is the largest religious group in the world in 2015,
making up nearly a third (31%) of Earth’s 7.3 billion people and globally, Muslims make up the
second largest religious group, with 1.8 billion people, or 24% of the world’s population. The
similarities among these faiths range in practices and beliefs. They all have the same
geographical roots in the Arab World. A holy book can be found in all three religions and
considered to be the word of God or the inspired word of God. Within the Bible and Qur’an are
creation stories in which God created the universe. Central to these three faiths are the various
prophets that came to spread messages of their lord.

The birth of Christianity according to Sis. Jennifer Cuerdo of the Santa Catalina Ladies
Residence started 2000 years ago, and it was written in Matthew 16, when Simon professed
his faith in Him, identifying Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of the Living God, in 33AD after the
resurrection of Jesus, there were around 500 disciples. When the Holy Spirit came during the
Pentecost, 9 days after Jesus’ ascension into heaven, Peter boldly preached to the people,
and then around 3000 people were converted. Christian missionaries spread all over the
world, and there are large populations of Christians on every continent on Earth, although the
forms of Christianity practiced vary. In Islam, According to Makbaad Salugauos Ad-Dalamah
of the Manila Golden Mosque, Islam originated in Mecca and Medina at the start of the 7th
century, approximately 600 years after the founding of Christianity. As Islam expanded, the
new Islamic societies adapted and synthesized many of the customs they encountered. As a
result, Muslims in different areas of the world created for themselves a wide array of cultural
traditions.

For the Catholics, life here is just a preparation for the next life, and whatever we do
here on earth will be the root cause of what will be our life after death, whether will it be eternal
life with God or eternal damnation. They do not believe in reincarnation because it states that
one comes back to life after death, in a lower form from his past life. This goes against the
catholic belief that human beings are the highest creatures made by God in his image and
likeness. Humans are made to spend eternity with God after life here on earth. In the Nicene
Creed the life of the Christian is characterized as “eternal life.” Monsignor M. Francis Mannion,
of the Catholic Diocese of Salt Lake City, speaks of three destinations after death: heaven,
purgatory and hell. “When a Catholic die in God’s grace, he or she either goes immediately to
heaven or to purgatory; the body — but not the soul — ‘sleeps’ until the great resurrection at
the end of time,” he says. “Those who have removed themselves radically from God’s grace
go to hell.” According to Britannica, Roman Catholic believes that there’s this place or process
called Purgatory where purification or temporary punishment of the souls of those who die in
a state of grace are made ready for heaven. Based on the bible of the Catholics, Matthew 25
tells us about the last judgment, where God will separate the goats (bad people) from the
sheep (good people). The sheep did the will of God; thus, they were rewarded with a place in
God's Kingdom. While the goats ignored God's will, so they were punished with the eternal
fire. For the Muslims, the afterlife, if you followed the Lord, you will find complete happiness.
There is no death there. You should not do harm to others because when you die, you will pay
for it in the afterlife. There is no money in the afterlife so you will pay by going to hell. For the
Muslims, there are a lot of lost souls. There are 73 sects. There are quite a lot and also only
one will be granted entrance to the paradise, those who believe in the word of God, did good
in this world and those who did good for others. Islam teaches that there is life after death,
and this is known as Akhirah. In Islam, it is Allah who decides when a person dies and most
Muslims believe that when they die, they will stay in their graves until Yawm al-din, the Day of
Judgement. On that day, they will be raised from their graves and brought before Allah and
judged on how they lived their earthly lives. This belief is known as the resurrection of the
body. Just like in Roman Catholic, Muslims believe that those who have performed more good
deeds than bad will enter Jannah, or Paradise. Jannah is a place described as a 'garden of
everlasting bliss' and a 'home of peace'. In Jannah there will be no sickness, pain or sadness.
Those who have performed more bad deeds than good will enter Jahannam or Hell. This is a
place of physical and spiritual suffering. When someone do harm to others such as killing,
plots for evil, you will pay for it by going to Jahannam, or hell, because the job of a Muslim is
to do good in order to go to Jannah, or heaven.

Christian common practices include a Sunday worship service, private and corporate prayer,
study and reading of the Scriptures, and participation in the reception of the sacraments
(Baptism, Confirmation, Reconciliation, Holy orders, Matrimony, Anointing of the Sick and
especially the Holy Eucharist where we receive Jesus’ Body and blood; we venerate the
Saints, especially the Blesses Virgin Mary; we believe in the power of prayers and
intercession; we abide by the leadership of the Pope, the successor of Peter and many more.
Many Christians will have been baptized, either as an infant or as an adult, and regularly
participate in communion. They also give recognition to the seven total sacraments, Sunday
mass, devotion to the Virgin Mary and the saints, and veneration of relics and places
associated with holy figures. In Catholic, they believe in One God in Three Divine Persons. God the
Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. They believed in Transubstantiation- the bread and wine
in the mass become truly the Blood and Body of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist, not just a symbol. They
believed in Heaven, Hell and purgatory. And they believe that as a member of the Roman Catholic
church they are One, Holy, and Apostolic. Catholics taught to abide by the teachings of the Catholic
Church on Good conscience especially the Ten Commandments and the Precepts of the Church,
though our faith is communitarian, meaning practiced as a member of the church, it is also personal.
It is our personal relationship with God and our love for him that makes following the law voluntarily.
In Islam, some rituals are practiced daily, like prayer. They pray 5 times a day. Morning, when the
sun rises. Noon when the sun is above. Afternoon, when the sun sets. After one hour and in the early
morning. 5 times is required. Jesus Christ kneeled when he prays, Muslims also kneel when they pray.
Others are practiced annually, like those aligned with specific Islamic holidays. The religious
practices and rituals of Islam are relatively few in number, but great in importance. The Five
Pillars of Islam are five practices regarded by all sects of the Islamic religion as essential to the
Muslim faith namely (1) Shahada. It is the Muslim profession of faith, expressing the two simple,
fundamental beliefs that make one a Muslim. (2) Almsgiving. It is a central activity in Islam. The
Quran explicitly requires it and often places it alongside prayer when discussing a Muslim's
duties. (3) Fasting during the month of Ramadan (Sawm). (4) These are the five religious duties
expected of every Muslim. The five pillars are mentioned individually throughout the Qur'an and
Muhammad listed them together in the Hadith when he was asked to define Islam. In Muslims,
they believed in direct relationship with God which means that they don’t actually need someone for
them to connect with God. They don’t have priest, popes, and saints in Islam because they believed
that they have a direct relationship with God.
