FOR HIS CITY (MADINA KAWLAKH) Translated

Plains (Suhuul al-Faydah) At Your service,
O Allāh! At Your service! And all goodness is in
your hands! Allāh! Allāh! Allāh! My Lord, there is
no equal to You! O Allāh, O Merciful One, I ask
You by Your unique Oneness, mercy, ability,
strength and power, seeing the intermediary of
Yourself and your Emissary and your Prophet, and
your Saint, and by the right of this noble month
[Shaᶜbān] and what follows it from the great and
mighty month [Ramaḍān], and by the right of this
night in which all the judicious commands are
allocated that You set right our affairs, apparent of
them and the hidden, and what is absent and what
is present, and what is small from amongst them
and [what is] insignificant, and what is significant;
and that You assist us with a mighty assistance,
and You support us with Your support, and that
You populate our city [Madīna Kawlakh] with a
Sunnī congregation of scholars, saints, righteous
people, epistemics, submitting males and females,
and believing males and females; And that You
guard us with Your Eyes that do not sleep; and
that You suffice us by Your sufficiency that does
not expire, and that You place us on the straight
path and protect us from the misguided and
misguiding leaders and their armies and followers,
and remove us from the party of the people of
lustful desires, and grant us safety from why You
have afflicted on them, and make us leaders of the
pious and God-conscious; And make this soil good
and pleasant for us and make us good and pleasant
for it, and bless us in its dry measure (mudd) and
acreage (ṣāᶜi) and bless us in its water and its
earth, and cause it to thrive and be frequented for
You and by You; By the rights of the Oft-
frequented House (bayt al-maᶜmūr) and the
Mother of Cities (umm al-qurā); and by the right
of Ṭayba, the city of the Chosen One (al-muṣṭafā’);
and by the right of the blessed land of Syria (al-
Shām), the blessed land that is it; and by the right
of Fez [of] the seal al-Tijānī, with only what he has
repleted for us in this place; And make it safe and
sacrosanct, in which are gathered the fruits and
provisions of every type; and provide us in it with
what will be a repose for our hearts and bodies,
and constant well-being and gratitude for the well-
being, and safety from every affliction and
tribulation in our religious lives (dīn) and worldly
lives (dunyā) and after-lives (ākhira). My Lord,
make this a secure city and provide its people with
fruits; and place in it the secret of the station of
Ibrāhīm and [wherein] whoever enters it is
granted safety. O Owner of Majesty and Nobility!
O Noble One! O Generous One! O Proximate One!
O Responder! May peace and blessings be upon
our master Muḥammad and his family

MADEENAH BI KAWLAKH FI SHA'BAN
Labayka, Allahummah! Labayka! wal khayru
kuluhu fii yadika! Allāh! Allāh! Allāh! Rabii, La
shariika laka! Allahummah, ya Allah, ya Rahman,
as'haluka bi-wahdaniyyatika, wa rahmaaniyyatika,
wa bi-qudratika, wa hawlika wa quwwatika,
mutassilaan bika wa rasuulika wa nabiyyika wa
waliyyika wa bi-haqi aadhaa shah'ri l kareem wa
haqqi maa ba'adahu mina-sharri l 'azeem wa
bihaqqi aadhihi-laylati-latee fiihaa yufraqu kullu
amrin hakeemin, an tusliha shu'uunanaa ma
zahara min'haa wa maa batana wa maa ghaaba wa
hadara, wa maadaqqa min'haa wa jalla wa
tansurunaa nasraan 'azeezaan, wa tu'ayyidunaa bi-
ta'yiidika, wa tu'ammiru lanaa madeenatanaa bil-
jamaa'ati suniyyat wal-'ulamaa' wal-awliyaa' wa-
sulahaa'i wal-'aarifeen wal muslimeen wal
muslimaati wal mu'miniin wal-mu'minaati. Wa
tahfazanaa bi-'aynika-latee laa tanaamu
wa'knufnaa bi-kanafika-ladhii laa turaamu,
wa'sluk binaa siraatal mustaqiim, wa najjinaa
mina-r-ru'asaa'i d daaliina l mudiliin, wa
junuudihim wa asyaa'ihim, wa akhrijnaa min
hazbi ahli l ahwaa'i, wa 'aafinaa mimmaa-
btalaytahum bihi, waj'alnaa lil-mutaqiina
imaamaan. Wa tayyib aadhihi l buq'ata lanaa wa
tayyibnaa lahaa wa baarik-lanaa fii muddihaa wa
saa'ihaa, wa baarik lanaa fii maa'ihaa wa ardi'haa
wa 'ummirhaa bika. Bi-haqqi l bayti l ma'amuur,
wa bi-haqi ummi l quraa, wa bi-haqqi taybata l
mustafaa, wa bi-haqqi-shaami al-latii hiya l ar'du l
mubaarakatu, wa bi-haqqi faasi l khatmi t tijaanii
ilaa maa 'ammarta lanaa aadhi'hi l buq'ata.
Wajhal'haa haramaan aaminaan tujbaa ilayhi
thamaaraatu kuli shay'hin wa'rzuqnaa raahata l
quluubi fiihaa wal abdaani wal 'aafiyata d
daa'imata wa sh shukra 'alaa l 'aafiyati wa s
salaamata min kulli baliyyatin wa balaa'in fi d
deeni wa d dunyaa wal aakhirati. Rabbi ij'hal
aadhaa l balada aaminaan warzuq ahlahu mina
thamaraati, waj'hal fiihaa sirri maqaami
Ibraahiima wa man dakhalahu kaana aaminaan.
Yaa dhaa l Jalaal wal Ikraami! Yaa Kareem yaa
Wahaab! Yaa Qareeb yaa Mujeeb! Wa salaa-llahu
'alaa sayyidinaa muhammadin wa aalihi wa
sah'bihi wa sallama tasliimaan. Ameen thumma

hakeemin, an tusliha shu'uunanaa ma zahara min'haa wa maa

wa tansurunaa nasraan 'azeezaan, wa tu'ayyidunaa bi-ta'yiidika,
wa tu'ammiru lanaa madeenatanaa bil-jamaa'ati suniyyat wal-
'ulamaa' wal-awliyaa' wa-sulahaa'i wal-'aarifeen wal muslimeen
wal muslimaati wal mu'miniin wal-mu'minaati.

Wa tahfazanaa bi-'aynika-latee laa tanaamu wa'knufnaa bi-

kanafika-ladhii laa turaamu, wa'sluk binaa siraatal mustaqiim, wa
najjinaa mina-r-ru'asaa'i d daaliina l mudiliin, wa junuudihim wa
asyaa'ihim, wa akhrijnaa min hazbi ahli l ahwaa'i, wa 'aafinaa
mimmaa-btalaytahum bihi, waj'alnaa lil-mutaqiina imaamaan.

Wa tayyib aadhihi l buq'ata lanaa wa tayyibnaa lahaa wa baarik-

lanaa fii muddihaa wa saa'ihaa, wa baarik lanaa fii maa'ihaa wa
ardi'haa wa 'ummirhaa bika.

Bi-haqqi l bayti l ma'amuur, wa bi-haqi ummi l quraa, wa bi-haqqi

taybata l mustafaa, wa bi-haqqi-shaami al-latii hiya l ar'du l
mubaarakatu, wa bi-haqqi faasi l khatmi t tijaanii ilaa maa
'ammarta lanaa aadhi'hi l buq'ata.

Wajhal'haa haramaan aaminaan tujbaa ilayhi thamaaraatu kuli

shay'hin wa'rzuqnaa raahata l quluubi fiihaa wal abdaani wal
