He lived in Israel,
He was also called a Jew. He was Jewish.
In any country, there are many things that needs to be fixed
for people to live well. For example, the river..

If you want to cross the river like this, how will you cross it to
go to another side of the river?

The government needs to fix this..

They need to build a BRIDGE,
so the people could easily cross the river

The same thing with ROADS. If the road is not good, it is

very difficult for cars to travel…
The government takes money from people so they could
fix the road.

There are many things the people need to live a good life.
Markets are build where people could go and buy food.
Lights are placed in the road so people can see when driving at night.

MONEY is needed when building roads, bridges, to make the people live a comfortable life

SALVATION : to be forgiven from sins and saved from being punished
(Ex. A child is forgiven by parent when he/she says sorry)
SON OF MAN : Jesus SON OF ABRAHAM : Jewish people (the people of Israel)
ZACCHAEUS THE TAX COLLECTOR

Dear Children, Do you know that Jesus is a very Good Teacher? He Teaches us to be good and kind people.

Long, long time ago, the Jews were living quietly in Israel and were very happy. One day, people from another country,
the Romans, came to Israel and said to the Jews “ You, people of Israel! We, the Romans will rule over your Kingdom! You
will pay taxes to us!

The Jews were very sad and upset, they were thinking “How dare these Romans! The Kingdom of Israel is ours, it belongs
to us the Jewish people!” .. But they could not do anything because the Romans were strong people.

The Romans spoke to some of the Jews and told them to collect taxes from the Jews. One of them was Zacchaeus, he
became the chief tax collector. He took money from the Jews and gave the money to the Romans. The Jews were very
angry with Zacchaeus and other tax collectors, because they collect more money and use it for themselves to buy their
own possessions. Zacchaeus became very rich and wealthy because he cheated the people.. The Jews taught to
themselves “This Zacchaeus is Jewish but he serves the Romans! Oh! He is such a sinful man, we hate him!”

One day, Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through, Zacchaeus wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was
short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see Him, since Jesus was
coming that way.

When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your
house today.”6 So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly.

7 All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.”

8 ButZacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I
have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.”

9 Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham

LIFE APPLICATION
Dear Children, last week, we learned about Jesus as our Best Friend.
Can you tell me who is your best friend, aside from Jesus?
.. wait for the children to say names of their best friends
If you are hurt by your best friend, do still love him? Or do you hate him?

Jesus teaches us to be good and kind to our friends even when they hurt us.
When our friends hurt us, we should be ready to forgive them and help them not to be bad again.

We must remember, if we sin, we should say sorry to Jesus and also say sorry to the people we have hurt. We
should always obey God and try not to sin again.
