PRACTICUM EXPERIENCE
Professional Semester III- Grade 9- Samuel W. Shaw School- Calgary Board of Education

● Final practicum consisting of a 15 week internship
● This full-time internship consists of developing, planning, and executing plans, both short and long
term. Responsibilities include classroom management strategies, documentation of formative and
summative assessment both from grade nine science students and knowledge and employability
students, and participating in both school and parent meetings.
● Further developing positive rapport with students in different grades by initiating a homework club
and joining and supporting students in the GSA.
● A personal inquiry project is being created at this time with a focus on social media and digital
citizenship in the classroom through the development of a classroom instagram.
Professional Semester II- Grade 7- Vincent Massey School- Calgary Board of Education

● 150 hours, 6 week practicum
● During this time, I taught grade seven science and worked on developing a full unit based on Plants
for Food and Fiber, as well as planning for learning using the Alberta Program of Study.
● Learned and observed how to apply assessments within the classroom and how to differentiate and
accommodate for students who were a part of the Learning and Literacy program. I continued to
develop a repertoire of differentiated assessment tools with a focus on numeracy and literacy.
● Had the opportunity to support a Sewing option for both grade 8 and grade 9 students.
Professional Semester I- Grade 2/1 Our Lady of Peace School- Calgary Catholic School District

● 120 hours, 5 week practicum
● Learned to develop detailed lesson plans in both science and social studies. I also had the opportunity
of teaching religion lessons on the season of Advent.
● Took part in Trickster, an art in residence program in which I supported students as they worked to
develop their own play.
● Worked with students in the Observation room and began developing differentiated assessment tools.

● During this time, I had the opportunity to observe a grade 2 classroom and experience the rewarding

INTERESTS and HOBBIES


● Rock Climbing- I teach open climb once a week educating individuals of all ages different strategies
in order to feel safe and successful as a rock climber.
● Art- I enjoy expressing myself through a variety of mediums including drawing, painting, creative
writing, and pottery.
● Traveling- Having traveled to a variety of different countries at a young age has impacted my
worldview and I hope to continue to experience different cultures for years to come.
