A Detailed Lesson Plan

I. Lesson Objectives
At the end of the lesson 100% of the students shall be able to attain at least 75% level of
proficiency to;
1. Identify the effects of some human activities on natural resources
2. Demonstrate the different problems of some human activities on natural resources
3. Suggest ways to reduce the effects on natural resources

II. Subject Matter

Topic: Energy Resources
Sub-topic:
Main Concept: Pollution is the contamination of the air we breathe, the water we drink and the
land we live on. Environmental pollution is the addition to the natural environment of any
substance or energy form at a rate that results in higher than natural concentrations of that
substance and it is the sum total of the unhealthful elements in the environment. Substances that
cause pollution referred to as pollutants, these include dust, effluents from factories, industrial
emissions, industrial wastes, soil runoff from mines and etc.
Instructional Materials: Cartolina, Chalk, Marker
Skills: Identifying, Demonstrating, Suggesting
Reference/s: Environmental Science

III. Developmental Activities

A. Routinary Activities
1. Prayer
2. Greeting the class
3. Checking the attendance
4. Passing the assignment
B. Motivational Activities

Teacher's Activity Student's Activity

1. Review/Motivation
As a short review, we will have an activity. I
have given you a piece of paper before entering
the room. I will pick a color here and those
who got the same color will answer the
question. Is that clear?
Yes teacher
(The students will do the activity)
1. What is the type of energy resources that has
a limited supplies?
-Non-Renewable Energy Resources
2. An example of renewable resources that uses
solar power to generate electricity.
- Solar Energy
.
3. What is the type of energy that comes from a
source?
- Renewable Energy Resources
4. A type of energy resources that uses water to
generate electricity.
- Hydroelectric Energy
5. An example for non-renewable energy
resources that was made from the collisions of
neutron stars when our solar system was
formed.
- Gold

Very good, class!

It seems that you really understood our
previous discussion.
2. Lesson Proper
Today, we are about to discuss the different
problems of the Philippines. Before that,
kindly read the lesson objectives.
Objectives:
1. Identify the effects of some human activities
on natural resources
2. Demonstrate the different problems of some
human activities on natural resources
3. Suggest ways to reduce the effects on natural
resources

Thank you!
Class, what do you think is the major problem
of the Philippines?
The major problem of the Philippines is the
pollution caused by the irresponsible act of
humans.

Very good!
The Earth is now suffering on different
problems because of our ignorance. We are
neglectful for everything that we have here on
Earth.
To understand further, I have here informations
about the different problems in the Philippines.
I will group you into 3 groups and all you have
to do is to demonstrate them in front by either
role playing or tableau. I will give you 10
minutes to prepare. Is that clear?
Yes ma'am

(The teacher will group the students into 3)

You may now start.
(The students will do the activity)

Are you ready group 1?

Yes ma'am
(The students will do the activity)

Good job, group 1!

In addition to that, land pollution can also be
causes by natural factors such as typhoons,
hurricanes, volcanic eruption and floods. We
can therefore say that land pollution is the
deterioration of the Earth's land surfaces as
direct or indirect result of man's activities. Is
that clear?
Yes ma'am

Now that you understand land pollution, what

do you think are the common causes of land
pollution?

The common cause of land pollution are the

agricultural activities, construction activities,
waste dumps at landfills, deforestation and
mining activities.
Correct!
What is agricultural activity?

The production of foods to meet the needs of

the people.

Right!
Excessive use of synthetic fertilizers and
pesticides can lead to contamination of soil that
become harmful to animals and plants.
How about the deforestation, what is it?

Cutting of trees to produce raw materials or

constructing buildings on the landfills.
Correct!
Deforestation often arises from the need to
extract more raw materials from the forests for
industries or conversion into agricultural land.
It often results in soil erosion and flooding that
causes not only land pollution but destruction
of human lives and properties. Do you
understand?

Yes ma'am
What do you thinks will be the effect of these
activities?

It can make our land unstable.

Very good!
Group 2 present your work.

(The students will do the activity)

Very good, group 2!
Air pollution is an atmospheric condition in
which substances are present at concentrations
high enough above their normal level to
produce a measurable effect on man, animals,
vegetation, or materials. Do you understand?

Yes ma'am
Can you give the contributors of air pollution?

Smokes emitted by cars, trucks, factories, and

etc.
Correct!
Because of those contributors the air will be
contaminated by different gases causing our
atmosphere to deplete. And what do you think
will happen if there is a continuous usage of
contaminants?
It can affect our health and can destroy the
ozone layer.
Very good!
For the last group, please present you work.

(The students will do the activity)

Job well done, group 3!
Noise pollution consists of pressure waves that
travel through the air that we perceive it as
unpleasant irritating sound. Do you have any
idea about the major sources of noise
pollutions?

Yes ma'am
Can you give some?

The sound of the factories, cars and also the

noise coming from humans.

Right!
Those are the contributors of noise pollution.
Because of the sound produced by them it can
affect our health which may lead to deafness
and our atmosphere. Is that clear?
Yes ma'am

Do you have any question?

None ma'am

3. Application
As a student, what can you suggest to lessen
the effect of pollution?

As a student, I will practice the 3R's to help

reducing the garbage and can promote healthy
environment.
I will help to clean the environment and reduce
the use of speakers that can cause noise
pollution.

Very good class!

4. Generalization
To sum up our discussion, I have here
incomplete statements and all you have to do is
to complete them based from what you have
learned on our discussion.
I learned that...
I observed that...
I conclude that...
I learned that the noise that we produced can
cause pollution.
I observed that pollution are getting worst.
I conclude that not only the environment are
affected by the pollution but also us, humans.

Very good, class!

It seems that you really understand our
discussion.
