Introduction

iWellFile is a Web-based application that provides instant access to Well


operations information and analytical results available within the Engineer's
Data Model (EDM). iWellFile provides secure, read-only access to selected
information and analysis data across the entire suite of Engineer's Desktop
applications.
iWellFile provides Engineers with immediate access to Well data and
historical Well Operations information by supplying Intranet access to the
following:
 Rig Activity Monitoring
 Comprehensive Well filtering
 Active Well operation based on a selected date
 PROFILE wellbore schematic diagrams and Wall Plots
 Calendar-based Well operations reports
 Safety Incident markers
 Well Operations Daily, Summary, and Executive Reports
 Key Performance Indicators
 Data Analyzer query results in graph and spreadsheet view
 Attached documents support
 COMPASS trajectory plots
 Quick links to 24 hour summaries
 Detailed activities display (Time Summaries and Output Reports)

Login

To login to iWellFile, do the following:

1. Enter the URL address of the iWellFile Server in the Address bar and
click Enter or Go.

For example, if you are a US-based user it would be: http://hou-


iwellfile.bpweb.bp.com/login.aspx

2. Select from the Data Source options.

For example, if you are a US-based user, you would select


EDM .16 Hou Prod – WH21P

The User and Password should automatically pick up you


computer logon information (i.e. your NT ID and password).

3. Click on Login.

Navigation

iWellFile has a multi-page layout. Each page targets the requirements of


different groups within a company. Following is a short description of each
area within iWellFile.

Selection Control Bar


Toolbar Logout

Page Display Area (iWellFile Pages & iWellFile Components)

 Toolbar - used to navigate the various pages and components of iWellFile


and specify (filter) what data appears in each iWellFile page.

 Selection Control Bar - Each of the iWellFile pages display data based
on selections made here. The contents of this bar change depending on
the currently viewed page in iWellFile. It is located directly below the
iWellFile Toolbar.

 Page Display Area

o iWellFile Pages - Click a link in the toolbar to access different pages.


The following pages are available from the iWellFile toolbar:

 Multiple Well - provides users with access to Well Operations


data for all Wells located in a selected region.

 Single Well - provides users with access to current and historical


Well Operations data for a specific Well. PROFILE generated Well
Schematics, Wall Plots and COMPASS directional graphs may
also be viewed.

 Rig Operations - provides users with status information for active


and historical Rig activity.

 Analysis - enables users to view Well data in graphs or tables


created in Data Analyzer.

o iWellFile Components - The following components are also available


from the iWellFile Toolbar

 Administration - This area is only available to Administrators of


the system. It contains options for management of
Announcements and viewing of iWellFile Log Files.

 My iWellFile - opens a configuration dialog, which is used by


each user to customize the default display settings and content of
iWellFile.

 Announcements – (seen as a button - ) allows managers to


publish messages to iWellFile users as well as allows users to
view messages.

 Help - opens the iWellFile online help system.

 About iWellFile - opens the About dialog, which displays release


version/build, current user details and licensing information on the
iWellFile session.

 Logout - Signs the user out of iWellFile making the license available to
another user.

Multiple Wells Page

The Multiple Wells page provides users with access to Well Operations
data for all Wells located in a selected region.

Information seen on this page can be filtered based on Location and


Date. There are also a number of Well Filters available for selection if
the is selected.

The Multiple Wells page contains the following features:

 Well Operations Tab - Provides Engineer's and Managers with


Well Operations status information for currently Active Wells.
This tab displays information on each Active Well and its
associated Rig based on region, Well, and date. The information
is comprised of summary data from the Daily Operations reports.
A Daily Operations Output Report link is available in each Active
Wells summary information area.

 Various views are available for this tab. Selection of each


will determine what information is displayed in the Well
Operations tab.

 Data seen can further be filtered based on an Event or


Job Type.

 24 Hour Summaries Tab - Provides a historical listing of daily


Well operations over a one week period. Each Well can be
expanded to display a chronological list of 24 hour summaries
for each active well. This list provides a links to each day's Daily
Operations output report and a Daily Activity Details Time
Summary spreadsheet.

Output Reports containing data for current Well Operations

all active Wells in a region.

Single Well Page

The Single Well page provides users with access to current and
historical Well Operations data for an active Well.

As detailed in the Multiple Wells Page above, information seen on this


page can be filtered based on Location and Date. There are also a
number of Well Filters available for selection if the is
selected.

The Selection Control Bar allows the users to select a specific Well,
Event, Depth Reference Elevation and Design.

The Single Well page contains the following features:

 Calendar - Provides a simple selection mechanism allowing the


user to navigate to specific days to view Well Operations
information. Days on which data was captured and an output
report is available will display an icon below the date. The day
selected will be seen highlighted in orange.

 Output Reports Available area - Displays a link to available


Daily Output Reports, Summary Reports and Attachments
available for the day selected in the Calendar. Click on a report
or attachment to preview and print it if desired. There are three
tabs seen here:

o Daily
o Summary
o Attachment
 Explorer mode will show attachments to items in
the Well Explorer (i.e. Well, Wellbore, Event
related attachments)
 Reports mode will show attachments to items in
the Reports pane (i.e. the Data Entry Form level)

Beside each report, a number of different icons may be seen as


described below.

o - Report has not been previously generated.

o - Report has been previously generated and


cached. It should generate more quickly if generated
again.

o - Report has an attachment. Click to open the


attachment.

 Performance area - Displays Key Performance Indicators (KPI)


for the selected date.

 Well Schematics area - Used to display Wellbore Summary


Schematics and Wall Plot Templates as can be seen in Profile.

 Common Well Graphs - Displays the Common Well graphs for


a selected Well.

o Measured Depth vs. Days

 Well Details area - Displays general Well summary details for


the current Well.

 Compass Wellpath Plots - Displays Compass Wellpath plots


such as a
 3D Trajectory - displays a perspective plot of the Wellbore
in three dimensions.

 Vertical Section - contains a graph of the current Wellbore


that plots vertical section (X-axis) against vertical depth
(Y-axis).

 Plan Section - contains a Plan Section graph of the


current Wellbore (plan or survey) with local east as the X-
axis and local North as the Y-axis.

 Inclination/Azimuth - contains a plot of the inclination


against the azimuth for each station of the current
Wellbore.

Rig Operations Page

The Rig Operations Page provides Engineer's and Managers with


status information for active and historical Rig activity. Once an “X” has
been clicked in the Rig Activity area, summary information will appear
as seen in the Rig Activity Summary area. This area displays
information on each Rig's Activity based on region, Well, Contractor
and Rig attributes and/or date range. A Daily Operations output report
link is available in each Active Rigs summary information area.

A definition of all Event colors seen in the Rig Activity area, can be
found by clicking the Event Colors link.

Analysis Page
The Analysis page provides users with access to display Well
Operations data in graphs or tables by accessing Data Analyzer
queries.

Using the Selection Control bar, the Analysis page can display two to
six query results in graphs or tables. The Analysis page can only
display up to 6 graphs per query. Use the Pane Layout picklist to
select the number of available boxes in which queries can be
displayed.
Click in each box so that a black box appears around it and select a
query from the Query picklist.
The Modify Parameters link appears for queries that require additional
information. Click on the link and enter the required parameters for the
query in the dialog that appears
Queries appearing in all Analysis panes can be regenerated together
using the Regenerate button.

The Graph ( ) and Table ( ) options appear for queries which have
graphs or tables available. Select an output option for the query. If no
graph has been configured for the query, the graph option will not be
available.
In order for a query to appear in iWellFile, the iWellFile Query checkbox
must be selected in the Query Properties dialog of the Data Analyzer
application.

Data Analyzer queries and graphs can only be customized within the
Data Analyzer application. No query customization tools are provided
with iWellFile.

iWellFile Components

Administration

This area is only available to Administrators of the system. It contains


options for management of Announcements and viewing of iWellFile
Log Files.

My iWellFile

This link is available to a user so that he/she can configure the layout
and display of information appearing in iWellFile. This dialog contains
two tabs used to configure iWellFile global configurations and individual
page settings.

The Global Settings tab deals with filters, display unit settings, how the
Well Name is displayed and allowing the use of cached reports to
improve performance.

The Page Settings tab allows the user to display or not display pages
in his/her toolbar, such as Single Well Page and Analysis Page.

Announcements
Announcements allow administrators to publish messages to iWellFile
users. These messages automatically appear each time a user logs
into iWellFile or when the button is selected in the Toolbar. The
Announcements messages display in a separate window. By default,
only currently active announcements are displayed.

Note: If pop-ups have been disabled Announcements will not appear. This
functionality requires the use of pop-up windows.

Once an announcement has been created, the Announcements


window looks like this to users:

Help

Clicking this link will open the iWellFile online help system.

About iWellFile
The About iWellFile dialog displays information about the currently
installed version of iWellFile, such as: application version number, EDM
database version number, build number, user information, and
Licenses being used by the application.
A link to the iWellFile Release Notes PDF file is also available from this
dialog.

Logout

When finished using iWellFile, click on the Logout link, located on the far right
side of the iWellFile Toolbar. Logging out is recommended as it frees up
licenses allowing other users to access iWellFile.

There is a Timeout Feature enabled which will log a user out after twenty
minutes of inactivity. When this occurs, iWellFile displays the following dialog
and automatically logs out the user . Click OK on this dialog and the Logged
out page appears with a link to login again.

Once an output report has been selected and generated, it can be printed. It
can also be saved in a PDF format. In addition, the output report can be
emailed as a PDF file or as a link to the document itself.
