Stainless steel plate is often referred to as “corrosion-resistant steel” – it does not stain,
corrode or rust as easily as normal carbon steel. It would however be misleading to say it is
corrosion-proof. It differs significantly from standard carbon steel due to the amount of
chromium present, which limits surface corrosion unlike carbon steel which will rust when
exposed to air and any moisture in the atmosphere. Due to its anti-oxidation qualities,
stainless steel is often a popular solution.
Where low maintenance and corrosion resistance is required, stainless steel plates are a
natural choice and are used in a diverse range of applications from modern architecture for
cladding or fascias, to the food hygiene industry due to its anti-bacterial qualities. Masteel
supplies stainless steel in a wide variety of grades and aesthetic finishes. There are many
options available – for example adding carbon during the forming process will make the
stainless steel more durable and stronger too. We can supply stainless steel in coils, sheets,
plates and bars and ship the material worldwide.

We stock and supply a wide range of pressure vessel steel plate grades for working
environments where safe operating pressure is critical.
Our pressure vessel steel is of Western European origin which is the steel of choice for the
world’s boiler & pressure vessel fabricators.
Masteel UK Limited have a global reputation for the supply of high quality pressure vessel
steel to these fabricators and many of them are suppliers to some of the worlds largest gas, oil
and petrochemical companies.
Applications:
Pressure vessel and boiler quality steel are commonly found throughout the oil industry
(including inshore and offshore), the petrochemical industry and the gas production industry.
The companies in these industries set the highest demands in terms of quality, testing and
conditions of supply, and Masteel UK Limited have all the necessary expertise to meet these
demands.
In recognition of the increasing need for pressure vessel steel plate to demonstrate HIC
Resistant properties MASTERHIC is also available ex–stock. MASTERHIC is particularly
suited for pressure equipment where wet H2S corrosion can be a problem.

HIC Resistant Steel is carbon steel which is tested to demonstrate the plate’s resilience
to the long term effects of hydrogen induced cracking, tested according to NACE.
Masteel UK Limited are pleased to offer HIC resistant steel plates from stock.
Below are technical details of our HIC resistant steel plate, including information
relating to testing and identification…
Such steel is generally used in applications where resistance to increased temperatures are
critical. The steel is hard wearing and offers a resistance to large variations in temperature.
Industrial applications include furnaces, heat exchanges and incinerators where temperatures
can reach in excess of 1100°C.
Chrome Molybdenum steel plate (often referred to in the industry as Chrome Moly) is used
for a wide variety of applications particularly in the oil and gas industry, the nuclear industry
and fossil fuel power stations.
The molybdenum provides increased strength and higher working temperatures whilst the
chromium facilitates excellent corrosion resistance and oxidation.
With such high temperature tensile strength and anti-corrosive properties, our chrome
molybdenum is also highly effective in salt water applications. Masteel offers an extensive
range of chrome moly steel plate with the following benefits:
