PON Port Authentication Mode
Before configuring the services for the GPON, users must authenticate and authorize the
ONU connected to the service interface card.
The AN5116-06B GPON equipment supports nine ONU authentication modes:
• Non-authentication
• Physical identifier authentication
• Physical identifier + password authentication
• Password authentication
• Logical identifier (with password) authentication
• Logical identifier (without password) authentication
• Physical identifier + logical identifier (with password) authentication
• Physical identifier + logical identifier (without password) authentication

Authorize ONU
In the practical example for the authentication and authorization based on physical identifier, the ONU is
authorized in two ways:
Authenticating and authorizing manually: authenticate and authorize the ONU manually by pre-
configuring the ONU physical identifier authentication whitelist.
Authenticating and authorizing automatically: directly get the actual ONU physical address by getting
the unauthorized ONU automatically to authenticate and authorize the ONU automatically.
2. Select Configuration→Obtain Unauthorizd ONU from the menu bar to bring up the Obtain
Unauthorizd ONU tab.
