Your new home from home
For many of you, student accommodation will be your first time living
independently and we offer you a welcoming environment so that you
instantly feel at home.
Being away from home for the first time can come with concerns
such as organising utilities including internet, insurance and electricity.
To make sure you have time to make the most of your experience
as a student we have sorted all of these for you – meaning more time
for your studies and having fun.
You can even live at our Global Community with students from across the
world, or discover sustainable living solutions at our Green Community.
accommodation is ideal because Our Show Home is located in The Hub at The Vale
it offers you a place to study, eat, and accessible seven days a week throughout term time.
We look forward to welcoming you there.

Our Accommodation
Open Day
Whilst we can tell you about how great
it is to live with us, we really encourage
you to come and see everything we
have to offer.
All our accommodation can be viewed during our annual
Accommodation Open Day, usually held in March. You will have the
opportunity to speak to students living in the villages and see their
rooms. You may decide to change your accommodation preferences
after visiting us, which you can do easily on the online portal up until
the Guarantee Deadline. See page 17 for further information.

Where would you
like to live?
We understand that your accommodation will be an important part of your
university experience. Therefore, we have many options to suit different
tastes and budgets.
Our options include single study bedrooms with a shared kitchen and
bathroom, and en-suite accommodation with a shared kitchen. We also
have studios and apartments available where you have exclusive use of
the kitchen and bathroom.
There are also different catering options for you to consider. Would you
like self-catered accommodation where you can put your culinary skills
to the test, or would you prefer our popular and flexible Meal Plan option,
which you can use to eat at over 30 outlets across campus and the Vale?
You may also wish to consider whether you would prefer living in
mixed-sex or single-sex accommodation. During the application process
you will be able to select your preferred accommodation options.

Meal Plan
Taking the hassle out of filling up the fridge and having to cook each day,
Meal Plan offers you easy and flexible dining options with a wide variety of
foods available.
And created our flexible alternative called Meal Plan. We’ve removed the
old fashioned approach of eating at set times in the same place, and
rejuvenated it with an assortment of different meal options and locations.
With Meal Plan you don’t need to spend your time worrying about what
to cook every night or what groceries to get in. The hardest part is
deciding who to meet up with and what you fancy to eat.
Our team of experienced chefs are happy to talk to you about any
specific dietary requirements.

We have our own accommodation App full of helpful features,

Innovation
and sustainability
At the University of Birmingham, we put
sustainability at the heart of accommodation.
Our villages are built with sustainability at the heart, not only do you have
comprehensive recycling facilities right on your doorstep but the majority
of our accommodation is powered by our own Combined Heat and Power
stations providing a more sustainable solution to heating your room.
We have achieved all of this and so much more with the help and ideas of
our student community.
