March 26, 2019

Dear Mr. Cathy, Chick-fil-A Leaders and Team Members:

You are welcomed in San Antonio! As you know, the San Antonio City Council voted on
March 21, 2019 to remove your company from the San Antonio International Airport
concessionaire bid process. It was wrong and you deserve an apology.

The recent actions of our City Council do not reflect the overwhelming belief in our City
that you are a valued business and community partner. In spite of the appearance of this
decision, San Antonio is a welcoming City that values diversity, faith and inclusivity.

You are the best of what we hope for in an employer and organization doing business in,
and employing people from, our great City. To address some objections raised, here are
a few things I wanted to recognize about your success and corporate philosophy:

1. You close on Sundays so employees can rest and worship. You put people over profit.
2. Chick-fil-A employs and serves everyone, without prejudice, discrimination or hate.
3. You are rated the “Best Franchise Brand” according to airport industry evaluator
“Airport Experience News”.

I regret the words used to describe your organization and I will not repeat them in this
letter. My only goal is to ensure the employees of Chick-fil-A know how much we care
about their presence in San Antonio.

On behalf of hundreds of thousands of San Antonio residents, please accept our sincerest
apologies for this decision. We will do better in the future!

Yours in Service,

Greg Brockhouse
San Antonio City Councilmember
