NOTE: Beaing cup (A) is the oTO clutch assenbly bearing


cup and rcmoval ol P,'O clutch assembly is neces.

1. li necessary, remove cup us ng 27539 (3-7, in.) disk and

2. Inspect cup bore n clutch iousing. LD. oi bore ls 89.94

3 lnstall cup PART WAY nto bore using 27539 (3-frin.)disk


and 27489 handle.

NOTE: Final lacation ol the bearing cup must be made by


installing the brake harusing in place.

4. Inspecl brake piston mating diamelers in c utch housing.


Diameter (A) is 99.95 to 100 05 mm (3.935 1o 3.939 in )
Diameter (B) is 141.45 lo 141.55 mm (5.569 to 5.573 n.).

5. nspect brake piston packings (A)lor wear and damage

6.Inspect brake piston for w€ar and damage. Prslon LD. is


100.37 to 100.63 mm (3 952 to 3.962 n.). Piston O.D. is
141.02 to 141.28 mm (5.552 to 5.562 in.).

11. Assemble hub (A) in brake housing and slarting with a
steel separator plate (B) on bottom, alternately instail three
pLates and d sks (C).

12. Inspect brake back ng plate (A)lor wear or damage and


insial plale on top ol ast disk. Thickness oi plate s 442 --'1U
to 4.58 mm (0.174 to 0.180 n.).

13. lnspeci two sprng washers (A). Free length of spring


is 6.71 mm {0.264 n.).

14. Insta lirsl spring washer with outer diameter agarnsl


instaiedbackingplale. Inslallsecondspringwth .D.agarnst
.D. oi nstaled sorino washer.

15. lnslal brake sprng backing plate (B) us ng three hex


(A). T ghlen screws evenly and torque to

INSTALL PTO BRAKE ASSEMBLY


1. Lrghtly coat brake p ston packrngs and install ln piston.
nsta lighy oied piston (A) in cutch hoLrsing bore using
JDG 307 PTO Brake Piston Insta er (B).

2. /nslalt [,tFWD rear idier gear loosely in place.

3. With MFWD dler gear (A) oosety in ptace, insta pTO


brake assembly (B) n place.

NOTE. Notch in sping backing plate should be rotated so


I ts behtnd idlet gear.

IMPORTANT: Use care du.ing ghtenlng to be sure


brake assembly does nol bind in clutch
housing bore.The ghtentng of the brake
assembty inio place also locates the pTo
clutch assembly rear bearing cup.

4. Install three brake assembly-io-clutch housing cap


screws (A) and evenly t ghten. Torque cap screws to 48 N.rn
(35 il-lbs)

IMPORTANT: Use same snap rtng that was removed or


an end ptay check must be made. (See
MFWD Gear Train tor end play check
instructions.)

5. Inslal MFWD rear dler gear in ptace and install snap ring

6. nstall lransmission to lractor. (See Transm ssion in


Secton 15 )

REMOVE AND DISASSEMELE PTO SHAFT

1. Disconnect batlery ground cable and drain transmission


orl.

2. Remove PTO shaft cover (A). Remove six rear bearing


qurll-to-case cap screws (B) with lock washers.

IMPORTANT: Use care in removing PTO shaft and


bearing quilllo avoid damage to magnellc
pick-up disk (A).

NOTE: The magnetc ptck-up and snap ngs ate used only
on INVESTIGATOR ll Waning System eguipped
tractors. Disregatd relercnces to magnetic disk and
snap ings if ttactol ts not equipped with INVESTL
GATOB ll Waning System.

3. Carelu ly remove PTO shaft and bearing quill.

NOTE. I PTO shaft beanng end play adlustment musl be
made before proceedlng wth final assembly and
installation.
2 Disregard references lo magnetic disk, pin, and
snap nngs,f tractor is nat equipped with INVESrL
GATOR ll Warntng Systen.

I lnstalrear magnel c pck-up dsk snap ring (A) with the


gap n ine wrlh pin hole n shaft.

NOTE Laler model lractors have a 6.1 mm (0.250 n.) sahd


ptn tnstead of a spring ptn. Ptn nust be in hale in
shalt to keep magnetic ptck-up disk frcm turnng on
PTA shaft.

clutch housing wall. Do not allow cone to
fall into cluich housing.

19. nstall a 7s x 16 x 3 n. IJNC cap screw wiih washer in


threaded hole (C) ln shatt as handle.

20. Slpport gear wiih ioo, hoist, and helper. Hold front

12. Inspect rear oil seal (A) and replace as necessary pry
out old oil seal to remove.

13. Press or drive rear oil seal into quill with shietded side
of seal facing driver. Use 27514 (1.15/ 16 ir.) pitor disk with
27526 (2-11/16in.) dtiver disk and 27489 hand e. lnstalt seal
tight against shoulder in quill.

same belore assembly. Adjust cone point
when replacing ring gear and pinion shaft.

IMPORTANT: In order to mainlain proper ring gear


bearing preload, shims must not be re.

4. Adjust backlash to 0.19 to 0 40 mm (0.008 to 0.016 in.).

penetrate the skin causing serious injury, Re-
lieve presaure bef ore disconnecting hydraulic
or other lines. Tighlen all connections betore
applying pressure. Keep hands and body away
from pin holes and nozzles which eject fluids
under high pressure. Use a piece ol cardboard
or paper to search for leaks. Do not use your
nano.

lf any fluid is iniected into the skin, it must be


surgically removed wilhin a few hours by a
doctortamiliar with this type iniury or gangrene
