REMOVE MAIN HYDRAULIC PUMP

This manual covers pump removal, installation, and seal

replacement. Pump repair is covered in CTL4-7, Radial
Pislon Pumps.

1. Drain auxiliary oil reservoir and oil cooler by installing one

end of a hose in SCV and fasten other end securely in filler
tu be.

2. Place SCV tlow control lever at "Rabbif' posilion. Run

engine at 800 RPN/ and move SCV lever to flow oil to sump.

3. When hose starts jumping (pump cavitation) shut off

engine. Move SCV lever to neutral after engine has stopped.

4. Remove side screens and hood.

CAUTION: High pressure can exist at any hy-

draulic connection. Avoid iniury from high pres- .q
sure leaks by relieving system pressure before
disconnecting any hydraulic lines, fittings or
connections.

5. l\,4ark location of steerinq lines and disconnect.

1. Throughly clean outside surlace ol purnp housing.

2. lnstall pump on D-0100644 Bench Fixture.

3. Write numbers on pump housrng, piston plugs and inlet

valves tor identilication.

4. Stamp indexing marks on the stroke contro valve

housing and pump body.

CAUTION: Do not INSTALL a NEW stroke con-

trol valve housing on an OLD style pump or an
OLD housing on a NEW pump. The rnounting
holes are common, but the HIGH PRESSURE
PASSAGES WILL NOT ALIGN.

Failure to align the high pressure passages will

keep the pump in full stroke. This could result
in hydraulic system damage and possibly a high
pressure leak which could create a risk of
personal injury.

5. Remove piston plugs (A), springs and pistons (B).

IMPOBTANT: Pistons must be installed in their original

bores if they are reused.

6. Place assemblies in corresponding holes in JDH-21A

3. Using an extended arm (A), extend the operating arm (B)

to (254 mm) 10 in. trom center oI operating arm shaft (C).

4. Operate engine at slow idle.

5. At the (254 mm) 10 in. mark (A) measure the djstance :]it:
the arm moves to cha'lge rockshatt direction (B).
On new lractors (as recetved from lactorv) set rockshaft
operating arm at 5-10 mm (0.2-0.4 in.).

On tractors with rockshaft usage, a measured distance of

less than 5 mm (0.2 in.) is acceptable due to valve seatinq.

NOTE: It may be necessary to remove guide (E) by driving

out using wood dowel or brass drift after valve
housing removal. Linkage must be removed before
guide can be driven out. (See Disassemble and
Repair Rockshaft Control Valve Housing, this
group.) Spring (A) and ba (B) were removed with
selective control valve and cover.

2. Inspect valve spring (A) using D-0116844 Spring Com-
