11. Inspect springs (B) and (C) for wear or damage. Check
compressron rate of spring using the D-01 16844 Spring
Compression Tester.

16. Remove and place lhe eight outlet valves (A) in their
respective places in JDH-z1A Parts Tray (B).
18. Inspect pump shalt, and race (C) for nicks, scratches,
pitting or metal discoloration. It external damage is apparent,
replace race and pistons.

22. Remove bearing cup (B) from pump housing (A), using
slide hammer and JDG-246 Bearino Cuo Puller.

35. Inspect piston bores (B) in pump housing (A) for scoring.
lf scoring can be felt, replace housing and pistons.
36. After visual rnspection, install each piston (C) into its
bore so it extends approximately 1g mm (0.5 in.) into shaft
bore. Pistons must slide smoothly and have no sjde play. lf
any rs detected, replace housing and pistons. 1

37. Visually check inlet valves for valve opening and free
valve movement. lf inlet valves are not broken and move
treely, do not remove.
38. Remove inlet valves by placing a flat punch through the 3..** &r

outlet valve seat bore. Place punch on center of valve face
and tap them out.

40. Inspect the outlet valve guide (A) and outlet valve stop

(D) for wear or damage.
41. Inspect spring (C) for cracks or breaks and side wear.
Check for weak springs using D-01 16844 Spring Compres-
sion Tester.

43. Use JDH-39-B-1 Installer and Removal Tool to remove
outlet valve seats (B). Place special cap screw through
piston bore opening and install into puller using adapter and
slide hammer from D-01048AA 17-y2 Jon Puller Set.
2. Insta I oil seal (A) with lip (spring side) toward inside of
pump housing using JDH-18 Driver.
5. lnstall new inlet valves. Use iniet valve plugs with new
O-rlngs to seat valves into therr bores. Tighten inlet valve
plugs to 1 36 N m (1 00 lb-ft). Loosen plugs then retighten to
1 36 N m (1 00 lb-ft).
6. Install bearing cups (C) using driver (B) and disk from
D-01045AA Bushing, Bearing and Seal Driver Set.

10. Place race (E) with thrust washers (D) on pump shaft
(C). Insert 25 needle rollers (F) between race (E) and pump

11. Place spacer (B) on unsplined end ol shaft, checking
for proper alignment iJ spacer and pump shalt journal have
a flat area.
19. Install stroke control valve housing (A) with shims (B)
onto pump housing.

DO NOT INSTALL a
CAUTION: NEW stroke
control valve housing on an OLD style pump or
an OLD housing on a NEW pump. The mounting

holes are common, but the HIGH PRESSURE
PASSAGES WILL NOT ALIGN.
5. Femove nut (E) and screw (C) from adjusting plug (B).

ASSEMBLE STROKE CONTROL VALVE
NOTE: Cutaway used for photographic purposes.
Use a hydraulic pump overhaul kit when assembling stroke
control valve and hydraulic pump.
'1. Be sure all parts are thoroughly
cleaned and all passages
in housing and holes in parts are open and clean.
2. Install new O-ring (C) and backup ring (B) in stroke control
valve through plug opening (A) using JDG-127 O-Ring Seal
Tool Set.
3. Installnew O'rings (A) (back-up ring (B) and snap ring (C)
on latest style) to manual destroke screw.

pressure regulatcr screw counterclockwise until it turns

7. Turn depressing screw o{ gas cock counterclockwise.
Install gas cock on adapter assembly and secure hose to
nitrogen regulator. Check all connections.

5. At the (254 mm) 10 in. mark (A) measure the djstance :]it:
the arm moves to cha'lge rockshatt direction (B).
On new lractors (as recetved from lactorv) set rockshaft
operating arm at 5-10 mm (0.2-0.4 in.).
REMOVE ROCKSHAFT
1. Lower the rockshaft and relieve hydraulic pressure by
working rockshalt and selective control valve levers.
2. Drain oil {rom rockshaft cavity by placing rockshatt
console lever in full forward positjon. Place lett-hand
selective control valve in {ull f loat oosition. Remove throttle
valve (A) from rocksha{t piston cover. Place a clean
container beneath left-hand selective control valve recepta-
cles and apply 240 kPa (35 psi) air pressure into throttle
valve.
4. Disconnect lift links (A) and center link (B) and remove
h itch.

6a. Disconnect power shfit linkage (A).
INSTALL ROCKSHAFT
1. Clean lransmission case. Remove any nicks or burrs on
rockshaft housing dowels (A) and install a new gasket (B).
4. Remove cap screw (A) and lift assist pin (B). Femove lilt
assist cylinder.
2. Sel lift assist in place and install lower pin. Torque lower
pin to 250 N m (185 fflbs).

4. Coat wiper seal lips and bores with oil and install with
metal face against driver.
6. Coat dralt shafl (A) with oil and caretutly slide shaft into
case with end marked "xx" (B) to left side o.f tractor. Be sure
beanngs are not dislodged or seal lip torn.
9. lnslall retainer (A) and tighten cap screw (B) to 230 N.m
(170 lb-lt). Shaft must turn freely in case with no more than
'1.5 mm (0.060 in,)
end play.
'10. Install outer retainer (C) and tighten cap screw (D) to
47Nm(35 lb-ft).

hydraulic oil prior to assembly.
3. Install servo cam with cam lock cap screw toward lower
