Proyect- Framework

“I know my rights”

Teacher: Romero, Valeria

Student: Medina, Deborah
Year: 3º I

-2016-
Rationale:

During the last weeks many questions and concerns from my students arose as regards a child of
around 11 eleven years old that started selling candies and drinks at the entrance of the school. Some of my
students told me that he is a kind boy and that they have bought them some things, others told me that their
parents do not allow them to buy anything from him. Because of this a kind of debate was generated among
my students, some of them stated that if they buy what he sells, they are helping him; other stated that
maybe he does not receive anything from what he may collect, and finally others said that he is a child and
that he shouldn`t be working.

Due to all this debate around such an important topic I think it is appropriate to raise their awareness
and to inform them that all children have rights. Children must know what their rights are. Consulting
children on the matters that affect them means making them part of the learning process, means giving them
the real importance they deserve for bringing their concerns into the classroom. For all these reasons and
much more it is of high importance to make connections between rights and their daily lives. Fundamentally,
it involves listening to the children and facilitating ongoing dialogue that will lead to many other topics (e.g.
bullying).

This project will focus its attention to five of the children`s rights: protection from work that harms
you- a home- education- hralth care- all different are equal. According to my point of view these five rights
will lead to many different topics that occur in everyday life of any children. The aim of this project as I
mentioned before is to raise childrens` awareness as regards their rights, and consequently that they could
raise some other childrens`awareness by sharing the work expericen in class. During the school fare,
students from 6th grade will present a stand where they will inform parents, teachers and other students why
it is important to know their rights as children and they will also share their works (brochures, posters,
flyers).
