NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 2nd September, 1993
G.S.R. 585(E):—In exercise of the powers con-
ferred by Section 15 of the Government Savings
Banks Act, 1873 (5 of 1873), the Central Government
hereby makes the folio-wing rules further to amend
the Post Office (Monthly Income Account) Rules,
1987, namely :-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Post Office
(Monthly Income Account) (Second Amendment)
Rules, 1993.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their
publication in the Official Gazette.

2. In the Post Office (Monthly Income Account)

Rules, 1987, in rule 8, in sub-rulo (1), the following
shall bo inserted at the end, namely:-
"The deposit made on or after the 2nd September,
1993 shall bear interest at the rate of 13 per cant
per annum."

NOTIFICATION
New Delhi, the 2nd September, 1993
G.S.R. 586(E):—In oxorcise of tho powers con-
ferred by Section 1 5 of the Government Savings Bank
Act, 1873 (5 of 1873), the Central Government here-
by makes the following rules further to amend the
Post Offico Timo Deposit Rules, 1981, namely;-
1. (1) These rules may be called the Post Office
Time Deposit (Amendment) Rules, 1993.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their
Publication in the Official Gazotte.
2. In the Post Office Time Deposit Rules, 1981,
in rule 7, for Table K and tho Notes thereunder,
the following Tables and Notes shall be substituted,
namely :-

be, calculated at half-yearly compounding basis.
(2) For deposits made on or after tho 24th April,
1992, interest will bo payable at the rate specified in
Table K or Table L as the case may be, calculated
at quarterly compounding basis."

publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Post Office Recurxing Deposit Rules,
1981, in rule 9, in both the Schedule, for tho last item
namely, "From 1-10-1991 onwards 856.40". the
following items shall bo substituted, namely:-
"From 1-10-1991 to 1-9-1993 (both dates 856.40
inclusive)
From 2-9-1993 833.40"

Certificates Act, 1959 (46 of 1959), the Central Govern-
ment hereby makes tho following rules further to
amend tho Kisan Vikas Patra Rules, 1988, namely :-
1. (1) These rulos may be called the Kisan Vikas
Patra (Second Amondmo.it) Rules, 1993.
(2) They shall come into force on tha dato of their
publication in tho Official Gazette.
2. In the Kisan Vikas Patra Rules, J988,-
(a) in rule 12, after sub-rule (3), tho following
bub-rule shall be inserted, namely:-

"(4) Notwithstanding anything contained in

sub-ruloi (1) to (3), the maturity period of a cortiflcata
purchased on or after the 2nd day of September, 1993
shall bo five years and six months commencing on
the dato of tho coitificate, Tho amount inolusive of

interest, payable on encashment of the certificate at

any time after the expiry of its maturity poriod shall
be Rs. 200/- foi a denomination of Rs. 1000/- and at
proportionate rate for any other denomination.";
(b) in rule 13, after sub-rule (6), the following
sub-rule shall hi inserted, namely:-
"(7) Notwithstanding anything contained in rule
12 or in sub-rule (1), if a certificato issued on or after
2nd September, 1993 is encashod at any time after
the expiry of two yean and six months from the date
of the certificate, the amount payable inclusive of
interest shall be as specified in tho Table given below
for certificate of the denomination of Rs. 1000/-
and at proportionate rate for any other denomination,
namely:-

five years and six months from the date of r-su^by
presenting it befo o the Post Office of Issue."
(ii) in sub-rulo (4), after tho words and figures,
namoly, "and on or before 29th day of February,
1988", the words and figuros, namely "and on or after
2nd September, 1993" shall bo inserted.
