Section 1: Rationale (Approx 100 words)

Since starting the course in September, I have learned how to film, edit and write a
script. Mainly, the sill I have most developed is editing because it’s something I’ve had
to do for every project, whereas sometimes other people film and I direct or act. From
my one-minute project, I’ve developed my script writing and fiction writing to develop
into a short film. This could help me lead to the screenwriting pathway as I’m able to
create dialogue that is meaningful. As well, during the Music Show project, I took the
position of director which helped me feel more confident to get my ideas across.

Section 2: Project Concept (approx 200 words)

For my final project, I aim to create a professional looking music video that appeals to
a teenage audience. I am aiming to develop a storyline that fits my chosen song so
that the artist’s audience don’t get bored and feel hooked for the entirety of the song.
The storyline must consist of my given theme ‘chance’ so I will interpret this word
depending on the chosen song’s meaning. It is also important that I watch the artist’s
existing music videos so that the video appeals to my chosen audience and so that I
know what will relate and not relate to them. To achieve this, I will need to hire camera
equipment that best suits my shoot and decide what lenses and lighting will give the
best look.

Section 3: Evaluation Methods (approx 50 words)

To reflect on my work, I will do a week by week evaluation of everything
I have done. If there was a certain day of the week that I accomplished a lot, I will
evaluate that separately so that I can go into more depth and reflect on my
development.

Proposed Research Sources and Bibliography (Harvard Format)

To research, I am going to watch a range of different music videos to evaluate what is
successful in one and what isn’t. As well as this I will question my audience through primary
research (ie a survey) and find out what appeals to them when watching a music video.
