2 Optical WDM Requirements

2.1 DWDM Equipment shall support both Fixed DWDM and ROADM capabilities

2.2 The DWDM solution shall be able to support minimum of 96 wavelengths at 50GHz

channel spacing

2.3 The DWDM solution shall be able to support wavelengths at 10G and 100G without

changes to the deployed DWDM system

2.4 The DWDM solution shall able to support wavelengths 96 x 100Gbps = 9.6Tbps of

capacity per fiber pair including the ability to support any combination of 10G and 100G

channels at any channel on the 50GHz grid without the need to for guard bands

2.5 DWDM Equipment shall support in-band management via OSC channel (1510nm or

1610nm)

2.6 DWDM solution should support amplifiers that can carry 96x100G wavelengths:

2.6.1 Pre-amplifier

2.6.2 Post Amplifiers

2.6.3 Line Amplifiers

2.7 ROADM

2.7.1 ROADM shall perform these three functions; wavelength add/drop filtering and
switching, dynamic power control and power monitoring of the optical layer

2.7.2 ROADM shall be capable to perform automated optical power equalization

2.7.3 ROADM shall be capable of adding/dropping up to 100% of the available 96


DWDM channels 50GHz spacing (10G or 100G).

2.7.4 ROADM shall support 4th Generation LCOS technology supporting gridless
technology

2.7.5 ROADM, the WSS, Pre/Post Amplifiers, should all be packaged in one module

2.7.6 ROADM module shall have a port to be able to connect Dispersion Compensation
Modules

2.7.7 ROADM module shall have a port to be able to connect to an OSA to externally
monitor the DWDM wavelengths

2.7.8 ROADM module shall support zero channels turn up. i.e. the operator must be
able to turn up the entire network without the existence of any channels

2.7.9 Proposed solution must facilitate “hitless” or uninterruptible wavelength


provisioning such that in service wavelengths are not interrupted by the addition
or deletion of wavelength or hot insertion of necessary DWDM system
components in order to provision a new wavelength (e.g. transponder)

2.7.10 The proposed system shall perform active monitoring of the fiber plant on the
network side for changes in fiber properties (attenuation, span length, etc.) and
be able to automatically adjust to changes to fiber loss due to fiber cuts

2.7.11 Proposed solution must not involve any manual adjustment of amplifier gain or
attenuation settings during the life span of the network

2.7.12 The following PM should be supported for wavelength channels that are auto-
created on the line ports and client ports of ROADM modules as a result of the
provisioning of channel cross connections.

3 Packet Switching

3.1.1 Packet Switching card should be supported in the same chassis as the Fixed or
ROADM system

3.1.2 Packet Switching cards are to be Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) Certified

3.1.3 Packet Switching cards should allow the service delivery or Ethernet Private Line
(EPL), Ethernet Virtual Private Line (EVPL) and Ethernet LAN (ELAN) type
services

3.1.4 Packet Switching cards shall support ITU-T G.8031 Linear Protection and G.8032
Ring Based Protection for sub-50msec Service protection and restoration.

3.1.5 Packet Switching cards shall support Y.1731 OAM functions for Ethernet Based
Networks

3.1.6 Packet Switching cards shall Support OTU2 G.709 on the NNI ports

3.1.7 Packet Switching cards shall support comprehensive QoS Support Traffic
Shaping, Rate Limiting, Priority Queue, COS per UNI and Per-Service

4 Network Management

4.1.1 All proposed equipment must be managed using a single network management
system

4.1.2 The proposed solution should include a simple to use graphical user interface

4.1.3 The proposed management system will support alarms management for all
equipment

4.1.4 The proposed management system will support inventory management for all
proposed equipment

4.1.5 The proposed management system will support centralized NE configuration


back-up and restore for all equipment

4.1.6 The management system should support both optical and packet services

4.1.7 The management system will permit services to be associated to customers such
that the relationship between customers and services is easily identified

4.1.8 The management system will permit services to be viewed

4.1.9 The management system will permit services to be edited

4.1.10 The management system will permit services impacted by alarms identified easily
on the screen

6.4 Training

6.4.1 The bidder shall provide in-country training services for Operation and
Maintenance Engineers (2 sessions, 10 people per session)

6.4.2 The bidder shall provide 1-week Expert Training at the Principal Vendor’s Center
of Excellence / Headquarters at the bidder’s cost (1 session, 5 people)

6.4.2.1 Please specify location of the expert training

6.5 Warranty and Support

6.5.1 The bidder shall provide duration of standard warranty

6.5.2 The bidder shall provide comprehensive warranty options for 3 and 5 years that
include but are not limited to:

a. 24x7x365 technical support

b. Hardware Warranty including repair and return

c. Software upgrades

6.6 Acceptance Test

6.6.1 Bidder shall submit a proposed acceptance test document 2 weeks from award of
the contract

6.6.2 Acceptance test document to include but not limited to a 24 hour BERT test for
both working and protect paths
